    Improve the G! Simple Controls

Am I the only one who thinks the Linc system is cool and all but really complex for some very simple routine tasks?? Now, my G23 is a 2014 so maybe the latest and greatest editions have made improvements in this direction. But on mine, there are some simple operations I am constantly doing that are a pain in the rear to do on Linc, nevermind the fact that Linc pulls my eyes off the lake and the rider. Nautique, if you are listening, give me this:

    Steering wheel controls!
    - A simple mute button. When someone falls, I immediately want all music muted. I want to be able to hear someone yelling in the water, or the roar of a jetski I had not noticed, or whatever. I am scanning for boats as I'm turning to go pickup my rider. I don't want to have to look at the Linc screen. While you're at it, go ahead and throw a volume control on there.
    - Paddle shifters for speed control. I should be able to bump the speed up or down easily, without taking a hand off the wheel.
    - Surf side switch. Simple.

    /end-rant!!!!!!

I agree totally, it is a lot of steps to do certain simple things but...
your 14 should already have volume /speed control and you can adjust it in Linc

Get a new 17 or 18 . The new Linc system has all of that . No need to add to the expense on putting it on a steering wheel. The new control where the Sport shift was is at your finger tips. My friend has a 14 and i have a 18 and there worlds apart.

2014 G23 has auto volume. Page 3-28. Its in the manual.
Music volume decreases when you throttle back to the level of your choosing.

Ya the 2016+ with the helm control wheel solve most of those problems. Basically involve one more button press to get where you need. Only one would be maybe surf side, but between the rider remote/Pebble watch it puts it in control of the rider which is better. Or if it's just for the new rider then you are already at stop while he gets ready, Easy to switch. I wouldn't mind steering wheel controls, but it's not a bad system they have either.

When I first drove a friends G23 and operating the screen(s) I realized that I was paying little attention to what was in front of me. It was similar to texting and driving and in the future I cannot believe the lawsuits related to eyes off the road accidents are not coming. There is probably already a warning sticker for that. I'm sitting on an "old school" 2009 230 because of the inherent simplicity. Seems like the newer touch screens have more info at the finger tips which is a **** of a lot better than having layered menus but have you seen the prices on replacement parts...Ouch.

For those with the touch screens, be sure to take advantage of the Switchboard pane, and customize it to what you need most often. You can have up to four items there, that are always front and center, like Ballast Shift, NCRS, NSS and the Surfing Side.

It is sort of a strange post to rant that a 2014 model get better. That is now pretty close to 5 model years worth of improvement gone by.

The auto volume works really well for my 2015 and 16.

I also installed a knob for my boats so that I can have separate tower and interior control while on whatever other screen I want on the helm display. It takes me 0.5 seconds to mute the stereo if the autovolume does not work adequately.

Doesn't your display have a simple button on the side to increase/decrease the speed? You are never going to be able to control a boat with both hands on the steering wheel. One hand has to be on and off the throttle, or adjusting something else. I can steer plenty well with just the left hand, and on sharp turns, forego any other adjustments.

You should have auto volume like stated.....but you can also get a phone app installed for free, called "speed of sound", when you slow down, volume lowers significantly....when it you take off, it raises level again automatically. Best thing since sliced bread.
It is kindof funny that you post a rant.....when everything you want is already available if you are willing to drop the coin on a newer boat. (I hear ya tho, I would rather they come out and just upgrade my existing boat so I don't have a payment, lol)

I installed an additional transom remote right in front of the hydrogate on 15 210 for this reason . It’s insane that I have to click twice or three times to mute radio .

how about a cup holder on the left drivers side, I hate reaching down for my drink and accidentally bumping the throttle. Left hand is about the party, right hand all business.

Even though I have a G23 I would agree that the placment of the driver's cup holder is a terrible location. Would make better sense to have it on the left just above phone holder or somewhere around that location.
