'17 GS20 to '18 G23

Considering trade of my '17’ GS20 with 160 +/- hrs for a new '18’ G23 ... thoughts?

Told could get about 90K for trade toward G23 priced about 165K

Do these numbers seem in line with more seasoned nautique folks?

The GS20 is my first Nautique (bought new).

My kids like the wakeboarding (80%) and wake surfing (20%)

If get the G23, what must haves? What major considerations, what surprised first time G23 owners?

The price on the new G seems typical. Must haves, IMO, are:
*surf select w/ surf switch
*bimini (and I'm in Minnesota)
*heated seats (again, I'm in Minnesota)
*trailering/mooring cover
*auto fire extinguisher
*pocket door air-dam

I pretty much would not consider buying a G without those options. That said, I also prefer the 550, but I only wakeboard, and with lots and lots and lots of weight. The 450 is plenty for surfing and 90% of the people that wakeboard.

You're talking about numbers as in how much your trade difference would be. That's not really important here. The question is:

- What do you want to do with the boat?

The GS and the G are very different boats. The GS line is meant to be a crossover boat. It should do a fairly good job of wakeboarding, wakesurfing and slalom skiing. The G is a wakeboard boat. It creates a world-class wakeboard wake.

Let's start with that. What's most important to your use case?

if you are going to ski at all, stick with the GS or go and ski a G and see if it is "tolerable"

Only one skiing is my father in law, maybe twice a year, not a factor.

We primarily wakeboard (80%) wake surf (20%)

I would plan to keep this G for 5 years (what factors should i be considering here?)

Reading through these posts seems the boats hold up very well and keep value

Funny enough we are doing the exact same thing, changing out the 17 GS20 for 18 G23. The numbers are slightly better than I am getting, so there's that...

No advice from me other than agreeing the G23 is much easier to hold on to with the size and being a no regrets boat. We didn't have our GS long, we needed a bigger boat for our lake.

Meh... MN and TX are way different.

I don't have a surf select sw and don't want it... maybe I don't know what I'm missing? I just signal to the driver and they give me a 3 count.

Heated seats, in Texas? yeah... naw.

Cover? FOR SURE!!!!

I've owned a boat for 18 years and never seen one on fire. Seems like an extra expense that isn't needed. But hey, safety first I guess. (I would skip it.)

air dam - We are in Texas.

I would get the strapless racks, phender pros, and if you like music get the prep kit and upgraded speakers.

^^^That's why I put the disclaimer that I'm from MN. I'd venture to say that if you're going to ever try to sell it privately, you'll need the heater, if you want to include the northern half of the country.

I try to flip my boats every 1-3 years, and it would be nearly impossible to sell a G up here without surf select (as every other G will have it) - it's not something you can easily add afterwards.

I've seen a few boats go up in flames here in MN, in the last 3 years. For $300, the auto extinguisher seems like a no brainer.

You can't anything but strapless racks, now.

stwilli326 I did the same thing. I had a '17 GS22 (my first boat) and all we did was surf/wakeboard ... got the 18 G23 and couldn't be happier, wave is a MONSTER difference. I got "most of the options" in my 22, but i wish i would have got more, so i loaded the 23 up with almost every option and have no regrets, i use them all! The only big argument i think you'll get here is whether or not to get the stern thruster ... i use mine a ton, love that feature. The upgraded stereo gets quite the compliments from guests as well

I have a 18 g23 for sale. I ordered it and it has most of the options. 80 hours.

I can't seem to upload a pic. It's admiral with a white stripe and hull. Mostly white interior with blue and grey accents.
