Considering a 07 SAN 220 Team Edition - thoughts requested

Hi All - I'm new to these forums so please excuse me if this is not the right place to post this question.

Long story short, I am in the market for a used Nautique that will primarily be used for surfing. There is a 2007 SAN Team Edition with the ZR6 engine in it not too far for me. The vinyl is in need of some repair, but the owner has skins on order for that. Otherwise the boat looks pretty darn clean. The specs are below:

    2007 SAN 220 Team Edition
    6.0L ZR6 closed cooling Engine (375 HP)
Bimini top (only 2 year old)
    Reversible Bench seat
    Heater with Defroster
    Docking Lights
    Bow Filler Cushion
    Depth Finder
    Mp3 Connection
CD Stereo with amplifiers and subwoofer
    Tower Speakers
2 Covers (custom fit mooring & customer trailerable cover)
    Keyless Ignition
Perfect Pass Crusie Control (upgraded to Stargazer)
    Hydrogate System
    FCT Tower (custom painted)
    Spinner Board Racks
Center and Rear Ballast System (with add on piggy back ballast - 750lb in each rear locker and 650lb arrow sack in the ski locker)
Tandem Axle Trailer with swing away tongue
    692 hours
Owner has all service records from when the boat was new to current.

The seller is asking $47,000 for the boat. I know Nautiques are nice and all, but that price seems high to me considering its an 11 year old boat. Am I way off? Or is the market for used surf boats so hot right now that the price is reasonable?

I would appreciate any thoughts you might have on this particular boat and the asking price. If anyone owns this model or similar - I would also appreciate any tips as to what I should look for (i.e., specific issues and/or accessories).

    Many thanks in advance.

Edit - now considering this one:

Price does seem high. Do you have any pictures?

I think $40k is more like it. At the top end of its super clean.

My 220 has 350hrs and a lot of custom upgrades (bags, NSS, wrap, exhaust down pipe, $6k stereo!). I would think about selling it sell it for $47K!

I do but they are all in an email chain I have with the owner.

FWIW - while everything in New England seems to be more expensive - hits for similar boats on only inboards and boattrader are at about the same price point. When a new boat MSRP's for 120-160k, 50K for a 10 year old boat starts to not look so bad. . . . . .

After getting your replies I contacted the Nautique dealer that is closest to me and asked them give me their opinion on the boat. They said that the boat looked "solid and was well optioned" but "the price was very steep." According to them, the low NADA retail for a standard 07 Nautique 220 is 33,000, and the high NADA retail is $39,000 (high being for an extremely clean, low hour boat). With the options on the boat and taking into account the hours on it and its condition (assuming the torn vinyl and carpet are replaced), they said that the low and high retail numbers would be adjusted about $2000-$2500. They also said that "if they were selling the boat, they would ask about $41,0000 for it but would probably part with it for anything over $37,000."

We'll see if the seller is willing to negotiate. If not I'll just keep looking.

Bump - seller was willing to negotiate a little but not enough for me to make the trek to see the boat. What are your thoughts re: this one, which is available a lot closer to me?

Seems to be similarly equipped and right about the same price.

The price is better, the hours are better and the colors are better. I like the blue and grey one much better, but it may be because my 2007 is the blue and black. Looks like the only options you're missing are the bow filler cushion, some seadek on the floor, the surf pipe and the after market surf system. Did the green 220 have the ski pylon?

Just to clarify - the green boat posted by 8urchvy is not the one I was originally considering. The one I was originally considering was red and white, and included all the standard stuff a 2007 SAN comes with, the ZR6 engine, bow filler cushion, custom painted tower, upgraded sound, upgraded ballast system (wakemakers plug and play bags + arrow shaped ski locker bag), add on swinging wakeboard racks, and a custom surf gate.

The one I am considering now is the blue and gray one from Maccallums. It differs from the red and white one in that it does not include the: wakemakers bags or the ski locker bag; swinging wakeboard racks, or surf gate. The interior is in far better condition however (the vinyl in the red and white one was ripped, though the owner was in the process of replacing it).

I know that upgrading the ballast system and adding the fresh air exhaust will run about $1000-1200. Adding seadek will be about $1000, but can wait. What could I reasonably expect a surf system to run? My family is just getting into this so we don't need anything spectacular.

                I see that now.

I have the 236 and we did add a fresh air exhaust this year and have really enjoyed the quieter ride. It was closer to $500. I have also thought about adding seadek, but for now the carpet is in good shape so I'm in no hurry. We don't have any additional ballast but I did make a suck gate (plenty of threads on how to build one) and it has helped with the surf wave. Others will have to comment on the cost of the of the surf system.

The 220 is arguably the best surf bot in the line. Honestly how much you want to spend on a surf system is really up to you . Suck on wakeshapers are cheap ( relatively speaking). However there is a guy on the site here that made custom NSS plates , ( identical to the surf system offered on current nautiques ) to fit the 220. Max something is his name. He has a thread going right now for the 210 plates give him a shout.

A 220 , even with a zR6 and options should come in under 40 . Your most recent listing is right on par. Without the extra bags , and. I swivel racks I’d be leaning more towards 37ish

I'm the guy who did some surf systems on the 210-220-230.
If you want something full integrated with GPS controlled system and automatic switch, this can run around $2000. You can also do some stuff yourself and lower the price.
It's an option to consider if you want something versatile without having to switch sides and carry it on your storage compartment.

Thanks, Max. Recognizing that you manufacture the system - how would I go about getting it installed? I am reasonably handy, but seeing as how I have no experience working on boats I am understandably nervous about drilling into the hull below the water line. Might you have a how to video?

I do have instructions with the kit and there's a video on how to drill fiberglass without damaging anything.
It's not rocket science, you just need to take your time.
If you can manage a ratchet and a drill, you're pretty much good to go.

                            Hi,

I was wondering if you can arrange shipping to Bahrain, interested in the surf system for super air nautique 220 2007, if possible kindly let me know details of the surf system and how much will it cost me with shipping to Bahrain.

                            Thank you

FWIW, my family owned a 220 TE late 2007 and throughly enjoyed this hull. The surf wake was perfect for most and the wake for any other sports was awesome. I would say $47k seems strong and I’d shoot for $30k’s, we got a smoking deal on ours and paid $40k back in 2007. Unfortunately we sold it in 2012 for what we paid for it, if I were purchasing another boat I’d find a clean 220.
