MasterCraft boasts that their top engines are the cleanest burning ones on the market and being the only 5 star emissions certified.

As for the surf pipe question.... hmm, I think the G was a little quieter while surfing, but I’m not sure I noticed a big difference. Neither boat has an issue with fumes.
Wayward, if I remember correctly you flip your boat every year and have done both Nautique and MC. Curious if you have decided what you are going with next year after owning the 18 XStar

ya, I’ve owned a few G’s, a few different MC models, and had a Bu once.

Will either be another XStar, or an X24. Gotta demo the wakeboard wake on the X24 first. Should be able to do that next month when my dealer gets one.

My 2016 G23 has literally been in at the dealer (broken) more days than it has been on the water, and we have yet to have a multi-day trip (from a weekend trip to our annual 7-day family trip) where our Nautique did not break. I have several friends with Nautiques who have never had issues that ruin trips, and two of them own G23s, so I am pretty sure that mine is a Lemon issue, and not indicative of the Nautique brand. (I hope!!!) Equally important is your local boat dealer... My dealer has made mistakes that compound the factory issues. I suggest finding a dealer that has an incredible reputation, and test their brand(s) of boats. Good luck!

I own a G21 and my buddy just got the new xstar. I have gone out on it a few times and will say Mastercraft made a solid boat. The wake has a nice transition and a solid lip. That is riding full ballast at 22.9 mph. It is not as abrupt of a lip as the G. It is a fun wake to ride. It is a little sensitive to weight distribution but all the boats seem to be that way now. The bow rise is much less then earlier models. You could definitely add more weight it you wanted. No surf pipe so the boat is louder but no problem with fumes. The stock surf wave is tunable to mellow and steep and has a pretty big pocket. It lacks a little power in my opinion. The G wave seems to have more power but is steeper and that is what I am use to. Both interiors are nice but prefer the G dash. You area to look through the windshield on the MC is slim. There are a lot more buttons on the xstar along with the 2 screens. I prefer the single offset screen and the wheel control on the G. Overall I think the 2019 xstar is vastly improved and competes with the G. Previous year xstar I would not consider over a G but the latest version is definitely worth looking at.

I just recently purchased a 2019 G25 and also looked at the XStar. Both great boats, but ultimately decided to go with the G for a variety of reasons. This is the first inboard I've owned so the steering assist was definitely one of the features I was most interested in and I can tell you that I've been extremely glad to have it so far. I'm sure over time as I get more comfortable with docking such a big boat I won't use it as much but for now I use it all the time and it's already saved my butt a few times, especially over Labor Day weekend when the marina was packed and it was very windy.

My friends all think it is hilarious each time I get towed in. Especially by one of them in their Mastercraft, Malibu and Tige. SMH. Working with my dealer and the factory now on a solution to "make some lemonade" so I can change that avatar and start fresh.

I’m a little slow . How do you go about stalking a member’ s avatar on PN?

                                Hey all

Thanks for all your input, the info has been great,

So after testing both, twice, and pretty much doing the exact same runs etc, crusing, wakeboard setup, wakesurf setup, lounging and chatting etc...

We have decided to join the Nautique family, (funny story, this is even after the Nautique brokedown on the test drive and we had to get towed back in, oil pressure issue)

                                Reasons
                                - the dealer is easy to talk to and trust, did not rip on the other brand of boats that we looked at, he took the time to go through why we wanted the boat not what the boat will do etc.
                                - the storage, the G has more yes, but the G has a solid floor in the transom that you can stand on when the xstar didnt, with the kids and extended family I know that they will want to get in for fun etc.
                                - the tech, the Linc system was easier to use and felt more user friendly, the throttle is shorter and felt more comfortable
                                - cooler in the floor not under the seat, batteries under floor, tower design looks better (yes I love the look of the new tower), seadek everywhere ! !, Surf system doesn't stick out and is integrated into the hull, surf pipe the xstar doesn't have.
                                - the engine was a lot quieter than the xstar.
                                - Both build quality is high, but when you start open all the hatches some areas on the xstar you had to move a cushion to open another, in the G this was not the case.
                                - then there is the little things, hooks in the transom to hang ropes, vents on the windows, everything can be done 1 handed, and there is a lot more but I would be here all day listing them.

So we are placing our order in 4 months, it is just starting to warm up here now in Australia, and delivery can take 4 months so we decided to order at the end of summer so that we will have it for the following summer.

Thanks again for all your input, we are excited to join the Nautique family.
