I want to introduce you guys to Kevin. Kevin is one of the best promoters of all watersports that I know. I’ve known Kevin now for 6 years. I met him on the lake and he has become so much more than just a lake friend.
4 years ago he went in for his scheduled colonoscopy just before turning 50 years old. He was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Over the past 4 years he has fought battles and won battles. He just can’t seem to kick it permanently. It soon spread to his lungs and after fighting that it spread to his liver. He’s been through countless surgeries and too many chemo treatments to count. After his most recent surgery, he was told he would likely be on regular chemo treatments for the remainder of his life.
Kevin has been on the water since his early 20s. He quickly became addicted to barefooting and pursued it very hard. He was rewarded by winning tricks at nationals in ‘97. When I met Kevin, I had never attempted to barefoot. He took me from my first footing session on the boom all the way to back deeps in 2 years. I credit most of that to him and a little bit of it to my stupidity. Of course he would never take credit for that. He has helped me with restoring my last 2 boats. His wife, Amy, and I always laugh about how good he is at spending other people’s money!
Over the last couple years between Kevin’s surgeries and chemo battles, I’ve introduced Kevin to wakeboarding and surfing. He has come to love surfing. His dream is to buy his own wakeboard and surf boat...as his Barefoot Sanger doesn’t quite do the trick! We have put together a GoFundMe without Kevin knowing to help raise some money so we can surprise Kevin and make that dream a reality! If you would like to be a part of this dream coming to fruition, please visit the link below. And if you know Kevin, which I know a few of you do, please do not mention this to him as his is unaware of this.
