Looking at buying my first G23 and have some questions

So I have been dreaming of owning a G23 for some time now.....who hasn't? So I am finally at a place in my life where this can be a reality. So naturally the first thing I did was join this site. I should also state that I am going to be buying this with my uncle for financial help, but who also doesn't care much about boating but loves that it can come with the same engine as in our Cadillac CTS-V wagon we have. It seems that a lot of these boats are made with the H6 engine package but he won't help if it isn't supercharged, he is crazy and knows it so it is what it is.
One of my first questions is should I look into a 17-18 or are the newer 19's where its at. Seems like the new power tower is nice and some have the new steering assist, don't know how needed that is or not. Also from what I've read the 18 and newer have a taller tower which is nice for head room with tower speakers.
Local dealer to me in northern California has a new 19 and the MSRP on it is $231 with a $30k discount which is roughly 13% so a purchase price of $201k. From some articles I've read on here some people are able to get 20%-25% off MSRP which seems like a great deal to me compared to buying a used one. But the idea of possibly buying a used one in the $120K+ range could save me some good money. what are your thoughts?
Luckily for me being that summer is just about over its more a buyers market and may be able to save some money but have to wait 6 months to enjoy the boat.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The supercharged 550 is a great engine. I have had it on one of my boats, and it is fun, but it will use some gas.

The new windshield & power tower are the big changes for '19. Steering assist is nice, but not necessary if you are used to driving an inboard boat.

Whatever you decide, I am sure you'll love the G23.

I am about to list my 18 G23 loaded with serious upgraded audio and mega addition seadeck but it doesnt have the 550 if you decide you dont need it. MSRP was 178 I am gonna list it for 129 with 80 hours.

OMG! MSRP is $231! Thats insane! What痴 going to happen in a few years when only 2% of the population can afford a G23, much less a G25. Does anyone else see a problem with this? I digress.

More to the point, 20-25% off MSRP shouldn稚 be considered the norm, especially on a 2019 in the fall of 2018. I think if you can get 16-18% off MSRP you致e done pretty darn well. People getting 20-25% off generally have a special relationship with their dealer, or they are buying demo/promo boats, or boats leftover from the previous year.

That price does seem a bit high...I壇 probably wait until the fall and you壇 probably get a better price. You might also look into custom order so you don稚 pay for options you don稚 need/want.

So here is the next problem, my uncle has looked into the boat and now knows they offer it with an XS7 engine package which comes with "fancy" headers and a "fancy" red engine top cover. I have tried to tell him that stuff doen't matter but he is crazy, so it looks like I'm going to have to order it. I have looked for an 18 with that package but it seems like it is super rare due to price, additional $7-8K from the regular XR7 package. I love the look and performance of the boat, definitely top notch quality all around, all he cares about it the "fancy" headers now....Lol. So i guess if he doesn't mind paying all that extra $$$ for it i'll definitely love and enjoy it, just not at the gas stations. And since he is wanting all the extra stuff I'm sure its going to be around $200K, crazy!! He is crazy and I am lucky

I have the XS7 in my '13 and it is truly a work of art. Been trouble free other than a intercooler pump for 410+hours and looking at updating to a leftover '18 myself.

I have not seen any on the ground with the SS headers for a while and I am too cheap to buy solely for looks but appreciate those that do as you only go around once... enjoy

Surely the money he's putting into this is going to come with some strings attached. I'm betting that as soon as the "new" wears off he's going to want out of this and you're going to be stuck either buying him out or selling the boat. Is he investing in the boat, or is he gifting you the money as long as you buy what he likes? Co-owning a wake boat is usually a really bad idea. I've never seen it end well.

I'm not trying to be a buzz-kill here, but this situation seems very odd to me. Make sure you're really thinking this through and not getting caught up in "new boat fever."

I have to agree with Charles. Be careful.

Situations like this typically end badly for one or the other partners. Although, I have seen wealthy relatives gift their family members in order to enjoy watch dreams come true and happiness being enjoyed, before kicking the bucket.

Ya I completely hear you on this. I am also not a fan of buying a boat with someone due this same problem, when someone wants out. Luckily for me my uncle is crazy and he will be the one putting down the money for the majority of the purchase. It is a very complicated story and would take forever to explain, but bottom line is he is a great guy but a little different and crazy, Lol. As i said before all he cares about is the "fancy" headers which i agree look great, but completely pointless in this purchase. I love the boat for how great it looks and performs and how amazing the interior is. Honestly he will probably use the boat once or twice in 5 years. The boat will stay at my house and i will use it for prob 30-50 hours a year if I'm lucky enough to get out that much each season.
As I said, weird situation I know, and i have been trying to explain it to him and try to save him money, but he doesn't care so I'm just going to order it and love enjoying the boat when we get it I guess. Like I said before, I am in a lucky situation.

As I said before, weird unusual situation I know, and would take way to long to explain. And no I知 not a teenager, I知 34 and have owned my own boat since 2003. Bought my first house when I was 24 with my own money and in California. I work 10 hour days and have 2 kids like I知 sure most on this site do. Like I said I知 in a lucky situation but also work my *** off for the stuff I have.

Ugh... OK. Again, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but have you really thought through this? The more you describe this, the less and less it sounds like a "lucky situation."

- He's paying for the majority of the boat. So it's his boat. It's HIS BOAT. What if he comes and gets it one weekend and takes it to his buddies lake house and comes back without it? "So-and-so wanted to use it for a while so I just left it with them." What are you going to do?

- What happens if you get unlucky and hit a log or stump and do several thousand in damage. Who's covering that? Him? You, because you were driving when it happened?

- Has he ever entered into other arrangements with you or anyone else in the family? How did those turn out?

Honestly man, if it was me I'd tell him "Thanks a ton, this is a VERY generous offer but I think this is something I need to do on my own." I'd then go out and find a MUCH more reasonably priced boat that fits my budget without the strings attached to a crazy uncle.
