I'm with Charles, and I don't do money or business with family, my brothers and I use to go 3rds on a trailer (not boat trailer just a box trailer) from damage, to repairs, to insurance and registration, and availability. Based on the drama I went and bought my own.
I figured it was not worth the issues it was causing

Surely the money he's putting into this is going to come with some strings attached. I'm betting that as soon as the "new" wears off he's going to want out of this and you're going to be stuck either buying him out or selling the boat. Is he investing in the boat, or is he gifting you the money as long as you buy what he likes? Co-owning a wake boat is usually a really bad idea. I've never seen it end well.

I'm not trying to be a buzz-kill here, but this situation seems very odd to me. Make sure you're really thinking this through and not getting caught up in "new boat fever."

Couldn't agree more. I for one wouldn't co own a boat with anyone, family member or not. Just a bad idea waiting to go sideways. Im sure people have made it work but I think partners that can share something like that long term are very hard to come by and match with.

If I may also add I would never buy the supercharged engine on a newer Nautique with a 2:1, your just throwing money away at the gas pumps. None of your passengers are gonna be staring at your motor, that shouldn't be why someone buys a Nautique. (ie the fancy headers)

You have called you uncle “crazy” many times. I think you mean this in a respectful way and are probably just saying ‘different’ but still. Regardless of this, my first instinct was to say “Buy a used one by yourself.” Like many of the others on here who have lived a bit more life than you, which may be related to age or just making stupid mistakes (both apply to me) I am going to suggest not getting into this partnership. Deals like this very often go bad when both parties have the same desire for the item, agree up front on usage, and can support the financial burden equally...you seem to have none of these. I would really hate for you both to cause a problem in the family over a boat.

If you decide to go forward, please talk with you uncle about things like maintenance, repairs (what if you damage it?), dissolving the partnership (one of you will eventually decide to move on or move out of the area), etc.

Well I ended up buying a used 2018 G23 last week on my own and got a smokin deal that I couldn't pass up. Has the super nice XS7 engine that not only looks great but performs awesome as well. Took it out for the first time this weekend and it is amazing.

Yes I did. For only $3k and they delivered it in 2 days. I was shocked, 2 guys drove pretty much all day and night without stopping.

Congrats! Fun to hear how this story turned out. I did however, really want to hear how the "crazy" uncle partnership turned out.
That will be a great boat for years to come.

Crazy Uncle still wants in on the deal. So far I have gotten the loan myself and done everything on my own. Think that's best

You got the loan under your name and he doesn't? Not sure who is the "crazy" one.

Never, never, never, never partner with family members on a boat.

Did I mention never partner with family members on a boat?

Wanted the boat in my name. It was originally going to be in both our names, this way in much better for me. If he wants to pay for half it's still in my name only until his half would be paid for. Smarter move for me, I have no problem paying the loan on my own, if I couldn't I would not have bought it.

Lol. I've owned 2 boats with my Dad and those worked out good. But I definitely would not own a boat with 80% of my other family members. Haha

My wife and I are partners on our boat. It's terrible, she never wipes it down, waxes it, vacuums, changes the oil, services the trailer. Nothing! I guess that all is fine because she is a good driver for all the riding I do.
