As a former 210 owner I can attest to the fact that a G21 is a huge upgrade. I have so much more storage, wake, and wave than I had before. I don’t typically run with a huge crew so I didn’t see the need to spend the extra $ on the 23. I personally think the G21 is a very underrated boat. Just some food for thought. We’ve put over 100 hours on our new G21 this summer and absolutely love it.
We have a 19’ 210 and the wave is insane. We love it. We are considering upgrading to a new G21 or a used 2017 G23. We can get the G23 for about 105k (180 hrs). Considering it mainly for the extra storage and room. What is your opinion on the wave compared to the 210?

Sorry for the slow response. Either boat you are looking at will have a substantial improvement in the size of the wave compared to your 210. We've surfed our G21 for two summers now, and spend a lot of time with friends on their G23. The waves are subtly different, and both are amazing. While I wouldn't steer you away from a G21, I'd look seriously at that '17 G23 for a couple of reasons. All the 2020 G series boats have a redesigned transom area that has built in seats. It's my understanding that this feature compromised the trunk openings on both sides of the engine making it difficult/impossible to get surf boards 4'7" and larger in and out of the trunk. This would be a HUGE bummer for me because I store all of our surf boards and wake boards in the trunk while trailering. In fact, the surfers live in the trunk while on the lake as well, and only come out when in use. All that storage space plus the substantially better wave was what helped make my mind up on a G. It's awesome having all of the ballast sub-floor and out of the way. The in-floor cooler space on the G23 is nice too. I'm always stepping over mine in my G21... Anyway, you can't go wrong with either G and you will realize a much bigger wave with either one compared to the 210. Happy shopping and keep me posted on what you decide!

How big is your crew? Do you launch in the morning and stay out all day or come back to a dock between sets? I went from a 210 to a 230, and as much as I loved the 210, would never go back to a 21 foot wake boat. How you use it and your average crew size are more important factors than electronics imo

We don't normally have more than 4-6 for riding. It seems fine that way. The board storage is a good point tho

My $0.02 if you're going to upgrade, the G23 is "revolutionary" change compared to the 230. You can get the 230 surf wake really good, but, it will take all your storage (unless you're comfortable leaving lead in the boat. 14-17 210/230 styling is much better in my eyes, so a '17 G23 gets you the panaray display, new hull tweaks, and the direct injection engine.
Of course towing a G23 is a beast, but honestly, our 230 on the trailer is 6200+ pounds, so, that is no lightweigh to tow.
