    i knew better---

i knew better than not to have a spare impellor on the glovebox!!

needlesss to say----my lake day on th 4th was cut short!

i have never owned a boat without a spare and the stuff to change it, but i have only got to use this boat about 10 hours this summer and had not rounded up the spare stuff---

this being my first nautique, i have found the first thing that is not as easy to work on as my malibu---the impellor!! on my malibu--three bolts, nautique--pull belt, remove pulley, 3 more bolts and don't loose the itty bitty o-rings!! still easy just not a simple as my last boat!!

Don't forget about the hoses...Pull 2 bolts, remove belt, pull raw water pump out, remove three bolts to seperate the pump housing, drop O-ring in the bilge, tear paper gasket, cuss, put new impellar in backwards, pry back out again. I have a DD so I imagine its a lot more fun on a V-drive! Someone should figure out how to make it gear drive, like a distributor.

What model do you have Bullet. I was making an attempt at being funny really. Changing the impellar is not hard with the right tools and parts, but it's not my favorite thing to do? I don't suppose you would have to remove the hoses on either end of the housing, but I find it easier to remove the unit altogether. I haven't had the pleasure of doing the job on the water, only in my drive or on the lift. In either case I can sit at a table and work on it. half hour, tops.

I usually start out the season by buying the "kit" for my boat from skidim.com, and sometimes I get two, just in case.

I agree it is not nearly as easy as changing the impellor on an indmar, esp the monsoons. But, the pcm is a better set up then the indmar. I have changed out mine only using tools on the boat, and I dont pull the hoses, then you dont have to worry about pump orientation. Took me about 20 minutes. I did it just to see how bad it would be if I really had to do it on the water. I'll continue to install a new impellor ever spring.

PCM changed the Excalibur in 2004--using a serpetine belt. The raw water pump was moved from starboard low side of motor to middle port. Much easier to get at now.

                  Impeller

I always go two seasons with my impeller. At the end of the first season I pull my impeller and O-ring and place in a zip lock bag filled with a rubber protectant. In the spring the impeller is just as soft as a new impeller. I use my boat about 50 hours a season at the most. We usually do not spend the whole day on the lake. We may go out for an hour or two in the mourning and then again in the evening (on weekends). During the week we go out in the evenings for and hour or two if the water is smooth.
