I have a 2015 SAN230 and just recently jumped in a buddy's 2014 SAN230 and noticed a significant difference in the stiffness of throttle movement. I believe this was the year transition that nautique move to the "drive-by-wire" set up.....just wondering if anything else could be going on or if there was normally that big of a difference in "effort" to move the throttle in a 2014 vs 2015 (same engine 343, same basic everything)

Perfectly normal for that year. My neighbor's 2013 G23 is a HUGE difference from my 2017 230. On his boat, I have to "wiggle" the shifter to make sure I'm in neutral.

It quickly became a habit with me on that boat when I once really thought I had it in neutral but instead it was just creeping forward. It wasn't a dangerous situation. My rider was just being dragged by the rope.Originally posted by landlocked View Post

I've noticed this stiffness on a friends 14 G21. Actually it's the stiffest out of any Nautique I have ever driven. I always thought it was odd, that the shifting was stiff and a little clunky compared to other Nautiques I've owned or driven. Nautiques have always been known for the smooth shifting and velvet drives they used to use. Which is why it kinda threw me off.

I would check to cable itself to see if there is any rust and/or swollen anywhere. Happened on my old boat so I changed the cable and was back to butter again!
