    Annual trade In G23

I am thinking about “demoing” a boat, a G23 each year, where i get a dealer optioned boat beginning season and turn it in end season for next year model to do all over again

Anyone have any experiencing doing this?

Other option is simply buying a g23 either an 18 or 19

    I will be upgrading from a 2017 GS20

    Thoughts?

Hey, if you can afford to get a new boat every year, why not? Personally, I find it hard to not start customizing and once you do, it makes more sense to hang onto for longer.

Can you explain this transaction and the terms in more detail? If you get the dealer optioned boat are you not buying it? What's the difference between the two choices?

I believe he's just saying he's buying one of the boats the dealer ordered for stock...as opposed to ordering and picking his colors and options. Yeah....I was confused also.....Unless it' some type of Promo program....but with a G23 instead of a ski......From what I know...you can't just "Demo" a G23 like a surfboard......LOL

I am curious..... Are you actually saving money? If so, do all dealers offer this option?

I would be shocked if you will save more than you will spend annually. In this scenario, the only one that wins is the dealer.

In the end, you are still paying new boat depreciation annually and MAYBE saving a few thousand off normal pricing. If you buy their demo at the end of the season then obviously you save more but you will still likely pay 10% or more of the new boat cost out of pocket annually. Maybe you don’t take that 20-30% depreciation hit but for sure you would at least take a 10% annual hit I would think. After the first few years I think normal boat depreciation probably drops to well below 10% annually. I don’t know if 10% is the right figure but it’s likely in the ballpark.

I bought my dealer’s demo last year and it has to be worth less than I paid on trade in I would think. So if I were to buy their next demo I have to pay something out of pocket to get a one year newer demo. But for sure you can kinda minimize your annual significantly if you get demo after demo after demo. Still gonna cost you more in the long run than hanging onto your current boat longer I would think.

Just depends on how much $ they want each year. Like was said the depreciation is extremely high first 3-5 years, then it goes down...
