I have an 18 with steer assist. It is great to move a big, deep boat around in a tough spot. I am not a 20-year boater so I find it really helps with maneuverability at the dock, gas station or picking up surfers. My simple advice is if its your first G23 and in budget go for it (glad I did), if you are used to maneuvering a G23 for several seasons then you'd probably use the extra 10K on some badass stereo upgrades and some great boards.

Having the exact options that you want and the exact interior colors and exterior colors is not that important to some, but others will always be wanting and wishing if they don't get what they want and spend G23 money. Just a thought.

2017 Tower is 6" shorter than 2018+. I'm 6'3" and hit my head on my tower speakers at least once per weekend on the '17. If not knocking your head on speakers is worth $30+k price difference, get the 2019. The tower, a few additional ugly color choices, plus the added thruster option ($10k msrp or so) are the only noticeable differences between those model years you mentioned.

Agree with Austin179 , on my GS22 I held back a bit on options and regretted it a bit later in the season, so I got everything I thought I would use in the G23 and feel much better about it, use everything on the boat. I splurged for steering assist as well and am a big fan. We teach alot of people to surf, so it's nice to swing it around a bit, so the rider can start on the same side, also great for backing up a bit in the wind, docking, and the kids love to just spin in circles with it haha.2017 GS22

I am not sure that there is a lot for 17 that 16 didn't have either. Didn't 17 get the taller tower? I am sure there is a thread somewhere about those changes too.
If you want to test drive a 2016, come up the street to St. George and I would be happy to take you out. I've been toying with selling. The hull changed between 15 and 16, I personally would not get the 2015 and earlier.

Let me add...even though steering assist is a $10k option, scraping the boat against a dock or boat lift in wind/wavy conditions with a metallic flake boat equals an $8k repair to make perfect. So $10k to best prevent scrapes on boat or pay $8k-$9k to repair a boat because it is hard to maneuver without steering assist...means you are going to pay either way

The last time I was at my dealership they said even they could not add the thruster to a new boat. It could only be installed at the factory.
