    Diesel G25...when is it official?

Here is a picture I saw on Facebook of a diesel in a G25 posted by a Nautique rep....when is this going to be official?

How cool would that be! Makes so much sense for these boats to have diesels in them. Inline 4 I assume?

I don’t know but would they really be that much more efficient than a H6 engine plus the hassle of finding diesel gas on most lakes ? My home lake in VA ( Smith Mt Lake) consisting of 550 miles of shoreline does not even sell diesel fuel at any marinas on the lake

I think it’s a 5 but I could be wrong no details on the motor only the pictures I saw. I would think efficiency would be better because the optimum range for that motor is surfing speed basically rpm wise. And diesel is usually cheaper. Not a problem for me as I have my own fueling station at my house so I would be all for it.

It would be monumentally more efficient........ running under a constant heavy load like these surf boats do, you’d be looking at a 30-50% reduction in consumption.

The difficulty in refueling would definitely be an issue for a lot of folks.

I need some gas. Where you at? Maybe I come by for top off.

For Coastal editions running in the ocean, I would think this would be a no-brainer, as diesel is more readily available.

I'm still hopeful for a 2 speed tranny.... One for cruising and one for surf/tow mode.

Yea that would be great- imagine the prop shafts snapping off on those . Yanmar's are expensive to buy and service

Yanmars are easy to get parts and service for and they are virtually bullet proof.

MasterCraft has tried diesel applications I think twice now without success...once for sure. What a great power plant, but people couldn't be sold on the $24k (at the time) upgrade. It sure would be cool to see this work out.

I think a lot of that was engine selection...... it wasn’t a great selection for that application. Not enough power to cover the upgrade cost. It was only just a little 4 banger VW TDi. If they were using a 350-400hp/800lbft option, and charging 20k MSRP, it probably would have sold much better....... especially with some of the big HP gasser options reaching 20k as well.

who knows...... I’d love a diesel option though, as long as they sized it appropriately. The specs of the one NyRyan posted would be perfect.
