2016 230 with H6 or H5

I’m at the final stages of buying a new boat and have decided to go for the 2016 230. I have an option to pick up a new boat with most options for about $10 more than a used boat (200hrs) but the main difference is the used 230 has the H6 and the new has the H5. New has 5yr warranty and the used has the remaining 3 yrs

We are mostly going to use the boat for surfing and wakeboard, has the pro ballast upgrade as well as bow filler ballast. Wondering if anyone has experience with both engines or opinion on which boat comparing hours with H6 or new with H5.

It's all about the altitude. How high above sea level will the boat be operating?

Oh you definitely do NOT need to go with the H6 then. You'd only need the extra HP if you were at altitude. That said, if you're doing a really SLAMMED setup with thousands of pounds of extra ballast you might need it. That would really be the only reason to get that engine.

The H5 has a little less HP, but actually more torque than the 6.0L ZR4

I think it also depends on your use. Wakeboarding with extra ballast needs a lot more power than surfing. You can easily prop down for surfing. But you cannot prop down and expect to cruise across the lake at 35 MPH.
