    Clermont, Florida

I have never been on the Clermont chain and was thinking of making a day trip next week. I have a 230 with tower. Are there any issues moving from lake to lake. Where should I drop in?

Its a chain of connected lakes west of Orlando, Florida. If the water levels are low you may not be able to run the canals between lakes and there are typically bridges with limited clearance.

Hey guys I live on the the Clermont chain of lakes and the water level is actually considered high right now, so no worries on the depth. I have an 18 G23 and the only problem I have is putting the tower down to go under 2 bridges but I am pretty sure the 230 would fit without lowering. Its an awesome time to visit this chain right now because the water levels are so high you can visit all the lakes.

Clermont boat ramp is your best bet, the parking has gotten small due to expansion of the rowing training facility but its on lake Minneola, which is where most of the action is and the only 2 restaurants.

Enjoy. Where I am located, it snowed 8 inches yesterday. The ski resort isn't open yet either. Ugh...

Hey - I did not make it last time but will this weekend. Are the lake water levels still good?

OK, I’m jealous now... I grew up on Lake Minnehaha (house right by the bridge when you go from Minnehaha to Lake Palatlakaha, Cypress Cove). Use to have a slalom course set up along the cypress trees on Palatlakaha but too much traffic (even in the 70’s), so moved course to Cresent Lake. Not sure what its like now, but every time we headed up toward Cherry Lake we would run across some really really big gators... Always had 4-6 footers around Minnehaha, Palatlakaha, but up toward Cherry there where some big boys that usually made us turn around and head back the other way ... lol. I miss those lakes, glad you enjoyed it.

I saw a couple big enough gators but I never point them out to my wife... All these lakes have plenty of cover along the shore so and I cannot imagine that there is ever a time where a couple red eyes are not watching. These days there is not a lake, pond, mud-hole or pothole what is not inhabited. It's hard to believe they were ever close to extinction.

I have a vacation house on the St. Johns in Astor but have never wandered over to Cresent.

Yes the water was obviously high. Doe it fluctuate enough yearly where you have problems running from lake to lake?
