Thoughts on color

I think you would have to be nuts to get that boat in Las Vegas. Despite others who insist that their black boats and dark interiors violate all known laws of thermodynamics, you are going to hate that thing on a July day at Lake Mead. The interior will feel like an oven and you can almost burn yourself on black gelcoat. I personally, would never buy it. Despite thinking that you can always have plenty of towels and get in the lake often, it doesn't always work that way when you are the driver and have a crew that wants to take their next turn behind the boat.

It absolutely will take extra maintenance to keep the black looking sharp, if that is what you like to do in your off hours.
Black looks really good. It definitely will be timeless. Given that it is not the ONLY good looking color, I would choose to go another direction.

Do yourself a favor and take a black and a white of anything you have, whether it be a car, shirt, or trash bag and leave it in the sun for 10 minutes today and see which one is hotter. You do not need anything hotter in Las Vegas in the middle of the summer.

As you can guess, I feel strongly about it. I owned a black boat with some black above the rubrail. Other very reasonable people on this board often cite that it isn't too bad. The black color issue seems to bring up a lot of disagreeing opinions, so that by itself should tell you something.

A black boat will definitely take some more TLC although I think much less than a car with road grime and salt. Good point about the heat factor in Nevada. Of course I am in PA where the sun shines 3 or 4 days per summer so we can use the black hull to warm our hands and feet after surfing. Still don't think you will have resale issues and would also add that they were making black over black in 03 and obviously are still doing so today. You just might have to sell it to a Canadian...or me. Please keep it in nice shape if you get it!

I think it is a beautiful boat. Probably one of the most timeless I have seen. That being said, Red is right, here in the desert, color matters a lot. I think it has to do with the fact that we often see days above 100 and dry heat.

Other than the interior possibly getting hotter to touch from the darker color, I think you would not a have a problem with resale. IMO, the boats that get the wild colors (Pink, purple) may have a little harder time selling.. Just my .02

I said this before...and just don't get it. If you can afford a G....why do you worry so much about the color and selling your boat before you even have it to enjoy??? I just don't get it. You only live once...buy the dam color YOU want...or your wife wants...or your kids want........and don't look back. Just don't get the people that will by a red boat or a blue boat or a gray boat just because someone says "They hold the best retail".....Listine.......SOMEONE will buy your boat when you want or need to sell it....no matter what color it is. Just keep the Cheetos out and you are gold...LOL

Black is one of those colors that half the people love and half the people are scared of due to keeping it clean and the heat. There are enough buyers out there that love the all black look and will even pay top dollar for it so, if you dig it, go for it. That one looks even better because they went with Grey seadek instead of peanut butter. I wish I could buy that one.

I dig it . Cleaning it will suck but nothing beats a shiny black boat . I wouldn’t think resale would hurt on this color combo and understand your concern . But that’s a safe color in my opinion

I'm glad someone finally brought this up. One of my buddies has a 02 SANTE in Black and it most DEFINITELY gets hot. Anyone that tries to tell you otherwise is feeding you a line.

Beautiful boat... Sorry I'm in the minority, wouldn't buy it. Waterspots and Nevada temps... I'm out. If you get it I agree that the graphics should be removed though.

black looks awesome, but is a pain to keep clean. shows every little scratch, rub mark, etc...
you have to be very careful buffing it because even buffing can leave marks.
don't ever plan on taking any decals off if it has been in the sun. the ghosting will be very evident.

I had a black 2000 Air for 18 seasons. Looked pretty good for an 18 year old boat, but I was pretty meticulous about maintaining it. Hated it. I told myself I would never own another black boat. Well, I bought a 2017 GS20, black. Kicked myself, hated it. But, it did look good though. Sold it, now have a '19 that has 2 black stripes, but the bulk of it is Masters blue metal flake

Btw I’ve had grey interior in two boats for at least 6 years and it’s not sweltering hot. In fact I don’t notice the difference .

SPOT ON! I love black boats but I too am super particular with having a good looking boat. Literally, everything you do to that gel will show! I had an all black gs20 ... sold and now have ordered a 22 with only some black and mostly red flake. Can wait to be spending my time on something other than cleaning the outside of my boat!
