JL 7.7 vs JL 8.8 vs Strapless Boardracks on GS22

Looking at ordering a new GS22 and would prefer the 8.8 tower speakers to 7.7 due to better sound quality and minimum upgrade cost. So for all of you with the strapless board racks and 8.8 tower speakers on your GS22, will the racks swivel all the way in with boards and miss the speakers? Need the racks to swivel all the way in to get in my slip. Hoping to not have to remove boards ever time. Unfortunately my dealer does not have this combination in stock to look at. Looking at pictures online, there seems to be a good amount of clearance difference between boats that have strapless boardracks and either the 8.8 and 7.7.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I think if there was an issue with JL Audio 8.8 speakers not allowing the strapless board racks from turning the full 90 degrees into the boat with wakesurf boards on them, we would have heard something on this forum about it. I know I don't have a GS but when I upgraded by 2017 G23 from strap racks to strapless racks there was more than enough clearance between bottom of speaker and top of board when turning racks in a full 90 degrees . I have 7.7 and not 8.8, but nonetheless plenty of clearance. Anyway my 2 cents.

I have my gs22 stored for winter but can try to get a measurement to confirm this for you. I will report back as soon as I can.

Finally had a chance to take a couple pics. Tower isn’t up completely but that won’t affect the clearance. All of my boards fit just fine. Hope this helps.

They won’t clear on my 230. Maybe the GS22 is better.

8.8s look and sound much better in my opinion. If you can only turn your board rack in 80 degrees because of them it's worth it haha. As a side note, it's a much better sound for the rider if you have 4, only 2 didn't really quite do it for us, you really had to max them out to hear anything.
