I know my pics of the heat/AC are not very detailed....but it just a basic system that looks like a window unit, but is designed to put into an external wall since it had a "sleeve", tho it would likely function just fine as a window unit too. It has a single power wire and the thermostat is built into the unit and the pre-set settings range from 61-80 degrees, so wondering how I could put it on an external thermostat like you suggested since to me, there would be multiple benefits doing that. Beyond that the system has plenty of power to easily cool or heat the entire garage space (partly cause I insulated the entire garage space really well since I wanted it to be as efficient as possible) and the $1k I spent to over-insulate the walls/roof, will likely be re-couped in 2yrs time since the unit will not run nearly as much if it was not insulated at all. Weakest point is the 12x12 door, even tho the garage door is insulated, I am sure the R-value is well below my walls/ceilings.
      Thank you for the suggestion!
Somewhat depends on the heater/power source. If' it's just a 120 plug-in unit that returns to previous operation upon power-up, an in-line one like this would be a simple adder if your within the amperage rating (and then remove it in the summer when you switch to cooling) as it just interrupts power to the unit. https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/h...CABEgLa4_D_BwE

Alternatively, most of those wall units have terminals for wiring in any generic remote thermostat, and usually just have to flip a dip-switch to enable the remote control and disable the on-board control. You'd have to check the manual for your particular model.

Nothing special, but heated and that’s nice for current -10 to -20 temps this week. But **** it’ll be 61 on Sunday! Too bad the lakes are frozen!

Wayward WOW. I remember seeing the outside shots of your place when you listed your G23 and was impressed with your rolling boat lift. The inside takes it to a whole other level.

                Here is our "garage".

Bevostein I don’t know, your’s is pretty awesome as well!

originally, I was trying to build a regular boathouse setup similar to that, but state and local permitting agencies wouldn’t let me. With that being the case, I got creative and combined my boat house with the new house. At the time, the rules were written in such a way, that they couldn’t prevent me from building it. The permitting guys were pissed, especially the state DEC. Their latest rules were written specifically to keep structures like this from being built. However they accidentally left a clause in there that makes existing impervious surfaceareas exempt from permitting. My lot happened to have a 50x60’ existing impervious area that was pushed right up to the water. They couldn’t do anything to stop me, as long as I didn’t build in the water. They are looking to modify that rule now.......

I’m kinda glad it worked out this way. I love having the boat in a dry bay. It takes less than 2 minutes to put the boat away (version 1.0, and 1.1 winches were much slower and took about 5 min. Version 2.0 is much faster and I incorporated a soft start/stop). I can clean/wax/service right in the boat room. I’m not constantly battling dust, or pollen, or water from windy rainstorms. The best part is that I don’t have to pull the boat in the winter, or winterize it. The only thing I have to do for winter storage is shut off the breaker for the winch systems, and walk away.

If I put mine in my garage I’ll block access to the house and exterior door. Ugh.

I thought about reversing it but the driveway is 6% and I would need to install a winch in the shop floor to pull it up the driveway. Doable but a pain.

Not picking on anyone, but you guys have some of the cleanest and emptiest garages I have ever seen in my life. Am I the only guy with a garage full of tools, spare parts, extra flux capacitors for the boat, a motorcycle, motorcycle maintenance supplies, shelves and shelves of cleaning supplies, 2 radios, camp chairs, a couple of tents, a backpack, cooking stove, etc? I've got some pictures that I will post in a bit, but I am embarrassed at how much stuff I have compared to some who have such neatly manicured garages.
