Thinking beyond 2020 here, but you know how those sailboats in the America’s Cup have the giant hydrofoils out the side that raise them out of the water? How about four large foils that come out the top sides of a wake boat, all four corners, to pull the boat down into the water. No water ballast needed. Make them super “smart” and precise. Like Malibu’s wedge but on steroids and x4.
I know people on this site are responsible boaters and probably very safe but could you imagine those foils projecting out from boats and the larger population driving them. Yikes...
Supra actually doesnt own Autowake, nor did they design it. They purchase rights to use it from the company that developed it (Waketouch LLC). The system is on the open market for other OEMs to buy if they wanted. They also make a system that you can use to retrofit an older boat (Consists of a modern tablet for the touch screen, and a PDM to interface with ballast pumps/tabs/etc..
I think a lot of the reason other companies havent purchased it, is because it doesnt really work all that great. Most owners shut it off (Or at least the 8-10 owners that I know). It works ok for the basic starter wave setup, but most find they are capable of a much better wave without using it. Besides that, more and more of the newer brands/models are very push button and go. The exception being the deep v boats (Centurion, MB, Tige). They can be fussier, and probably should be the brands using autowake for the customers that struggle with basic setup.
Either way, if it was a gamechanging system, other manufacturers would be using it by now.
....hmm too bad it doesn't work very well.
I was thinking you manually fill the ballasts. You find a setting you like. Hit a save button. Then the next time out you can just use that preset. Plus since the gyro it takes account for people weight and placement. Instead of having people shift around.
I’m with others on there will more than likely be a price increase . I can’t imagine it will keep going up but it always does .
As stated above I think a 210,230 redo would be really cool . I’m not real keen on the new stripe on current model 210,230 so hope they change that in addition to some other upgrades .
I’m very partial to the 210. Been the best boats I’ve ever owned and they don’t hurt the checkbook as bad as others .

...meh, just an idea.

The reason autowake does not work very well is because it can't instantly make weight, it can only dump ballast or shift ballast. Take for example a properly weighted boat with a regular side surfer. All ballast full, people sitting on the surf side. Here one usually has the best wake. If someone moves to sit on the opposite side of the wave, autowake can only dump ballast on the non surf side to compensate. This can take minutes for the pumps to accomplish. In this case the wave is compromised because the boat has less than full ballast, but is better balanced. Now if that person moves back to the surf side, the pumps will reverse and fill up the ballast on the non surf side. Meanwhile the surfer is having the wave continuously change. No thanks. Just sit here and please dont move around while I'm surfing.

Yea, I definitely see that not working very well.
I was thinking of only using while at rest when you are setting up the boat. I'm an intermediate wakeboarder and an enginerd. When trying to learn new tricks I shorten the rope length and mess with the wake (ballast) and speed for best results. Trying to lower the impact of all my falls. In this sense I would think it could be handy, but yea an on the fly system it couldn't adjust fast enough. I know how to weight my boat very well and how much time it takes to fill each tank and how it is leaning. ....but if i could save settings and just have a computer do it for me the next time, sure why not. But the next time I might have more/less people sitting in different spots. So the input from the gyro would help that i would hope. ....maybe there could be a depth sensor on how much draft the boat is sitting at too approximate how much crew weight is in the boat. But yea i'm not looking for an on the fly adjustment system more of a wake setup tool.
It actually works not bad, I love it especially for wakeboarding. I have kids/ guests and they are constantly moving around the boat, I tend to sit in the middle of the transom when i am getting my gear on, If auto wake is on it will level the boat while I am getting ready. Once underway it will make the adjustments, for the pitch and roll. Usually the roll will be good, if you get ready sitting centered on the back. Then if someone moves to the other side to be with kids or they need to move then it will make the adjustments instead of me looking like a crazy person waving at the driver. If you have the 6 pump system it does do it pretty fast. It allows the driver to concentrate on driving and the passengers instead of constantly looking to see if the wake is good or not.
As far as surfing I find that it does work to help you get close to a pretty good wave, when have a bunch of people sitting in the boat you don't have to ask them to move. Hit auto wake and it will fill the ballast to close to what you need before you start going. I never have to look at the biggest person in the boat and ask them to move. If you are just taking non serious surfers out it works pretty good or if you have a new driver that doesn't know how to set up a wave and you just want to go for a surf then it does a pretty good job. I usually tweak my pitch and roll a bit while under way to make sure it is dialled in. If it is just me and a couple of friends or if it is windy, then I don't use it. If it is a bit breezy that day and you turn auto wake on while sitting then that will screw it up for sure, the wind will tilt the boat while it is sitting and screw cause auto wake to fill the ballast all wrong.

It will be interesting to see if any of the other manufacturers pick it up. You’d think they would have jumped on it by now, if they felt it worked good.
i think the big thing, is that the other manufacturers have worked more towards dialing in their boats to not need something like autowake. It’s amazing how many brands and models are a simple push button wake now, and don’t need an act of Congress, or a specific celestial alignment to kick out an awesome stock wave.
It is push button if you want it to be. You have to option to just hit surf and it is pretty good. But as I said wake boarding is when I really like it. I have been in a G and a 210 that was not sitting level and had to be played with. Imean while you have to get the drivers attention to fix it. I t is also nice to have when you have a driver that has very little experience pulling boarders(which is common now)
Wish list;
how about GM’s new 6.6 DI gas motor in a marine version or Ford’s new 7.3 gas motor?
Maybe get better fuel economy than the 550 is yielding especially running heavy and/or us running at altitude.

Not trying to be a jerk but no one is in this game for fuel economy. If you are in it for the fuel economy you need to choose another hobby or interest other than water sports. I have been doing this for 50 years and love it and never thought about fuel economy because it is irrelevant. Just saying

No, my main objective is to have a good time with my family and friends.
Draining the toy tank on the houseboat by mid week, running two hours back to the marina to buy $4.00/gallon mid grade fuel because the don’t sell premium to fill my 8 gallon fuel cans (glad to have large storage lockers) and another 2 hour ride back to camp cuts into our fun time.
Its all about convience. Faster fill times, quick operating surf systems and screwing less with fuel means more ‘behind the boat time’.
