Tallredrider you probably did yourself a favor by NOT plumbing in those 1100lb sacs. That is WAY too much weight to put in the rear of a 2016+ G23 for surfing. That much weight in the rear of the new hull G23s sinks the NSS too deep and water rushes over and washes out the wave. Would be fine for wakeboarding but horrible for surfing.

The Gs aren’t hard to setup either. I’m just saying Malibu’s are literally surf on/surf off. Fill ballast, done.

Centurions are definitely a little bit harder to setup. I like to set them up a different way than most. Fill rams, than adjust tabs until wave is formed and good. rather than have a set number and just go.

If you are still interested you should look at the G23 vs LSV 23 video (https://vimeo.com/316207963).
Someone on TMC correctly noted that the lake is glassy glass for the LSV when the measurements are done and crazy rough for the G23 when the measurements are done.
When the two boats are in the same video shoot, the lsv is in foreground of the video while the G23 is in background and maybe with a setback to have water disturbed by the lsv wake.

Definitively an apple to apple comparison

As I already said, if people do not catch those tricks and believe lenght, height and cleanliness of the wake is all, this is a great PR stunt. I wonder how other boat manufacturers will reply to this marketing ploy.

Good point! Definitely a lot rougher water when the G23 is being tested and that makes a big difference in wave quality.

And I have not ever surfed these boats side by side, but am pretty sure you surf a G23 faster than a Malibu, so having them both go a slower speed is going to impact the G wave.

There is no doubt that this is a propaganda piece for Malibu, but an objective observer is not going to get carried away with 'crazy rough' water observation. That is a little wind chop, and that is about all. It does not affect the attitude of the boat at all, and in my experience if the boat is able to keep a constant level, the wave is as good as if it were on glass. If that is crazy rough, I am not sure what to call the beating my boat takes on a weekend in the summer. When my boat is constantly rolling and changing attitude, the surf wave changes. Nothing about that video makes me think that is happening.

There is a fairly lengthy segment of video where both boats are riding side by side simultaneously. It is worth something, although far from perfect due to the other reasons xxrb mentions.

They rely mostly on perspective in the videos. They always put the Bu in the foreground for a reason. Even if they switch surf sides, they switch the boats around.

This is my definition of crazy rough . Agree that is is not an universal one.
I love early morning or late afternoon when either everydoby is drunk from last night or start drinking again for the evening.

I am looking at the 2019 Nautique GS24 but I am not able to take it for test drive because winter in WI and want to take advantage of the boat show prices. I am not able to find any reviews on line about this boat on how the wake is for surfing and wakeboarding. I can only find reviews on the 2018 GS24 and all say the wake is not good for surfing and wakeboarding. The dealer told me they changed the haul for 2019 and added the 700lbs of ballast which made the wake better than 2018. Has anyone surfed and wakeboard behind the 2019 GS24 and could tell me how the wake is?

Not trying to be a smart “A” , but maybe that tells you something ? Little to no information about the GS 24 (Ghost Boat) on this forum period . If you are looking to buy a tow boat “Blind” at a boat show to achieve some discounted price you need to consider s GS 22, G 23 or 230 where there is some forum history. Just saying . My 2 cents .

That is why I don't think I can pull the trigger because I have always rode behind the boat before I buy it. I have surfed behind a 2015 G23 and that had an awesome wake and would love to go with a G23 but it will not fit in my heated garage.

Just a thought...negotiate a discount in addition to the boat show pricing and get 3yrs of heated storage at your dealer included and go with the G 23. Bottom line is ... do your homework and don’t buy a boat because of a discount or “deal”. Get out on the water and do a proper test drive...

If you do get the GS24 make sure you post here so that we can actually see / hear about one...

Was just looking at their testing methodology again. They say "If Plug N Play was an available option and installed at the factory, then the recommended sacks where connected and utilized."

Because the Malibu boats have a plug-n-play option they added additional ballast sacks? So they are not comparing stock to stock. It's Malibu stock with "recommended sacks" vs. stock.
