Well, I don't know if you were including me or not, but I really meant it when I said, "But thanks for buying new so I can buy used." For those that can't afford new it keeps the used market going.

Sorry Bevostein, I should have started my comment with "I'd" instead of "You'd." I can see how that could come off as spiteful, but it wasn't my intent. Great post Infinity. Really puts things into perspective....how those ever-climbing price tags are still cheaper than the true value these boats can provide.

My boats have always lost less than 10K per year in value. So it really isn't a 150K boat, it is a 10K per year loss in venture capital. Many years it is less than that, during the recession it was slightly more. There is no doubt these new boats are a wealthy person's enterprise, but you don't have to be filthy rich to lose 10K per year.
It is worth it to me, without question, for the reasons infinity eloquently noted.

I’ve owned 6 Nautique’s . My brain won’t allow me to pay over 85k as we only use the boat 3 months out of a year and my kids are now gone to school. We can afford a new G but just can’t justify it.
I have to admit I’m a bit envious when I see those G21 boats rolling around but very happy with our 210.
I asked a member on here how in the heck he affords a 140k plus boat and he answered long term finance and downpayment. I understand that but it freaks me out.
Bought our new 210 in 15 for 81k . It will be paid for this year.

However, everything he said could be done in an expensive boat, can also be done in a moderate or low priced boat.
What does boujee mean? The term ‘boujee’ first appeared in France in the 16th century. French word ‘bourgeoisie’ referred to merchantmen that were considered self-sufficient and had privilege in society. Later, the term was used to describe ‘middle class’. In the 1970s, boujee meant something unfair, arrogant, snippy and it was again associated with people out of ‘middle class’ who pretend to have upper class status. From the 2010s and till present, boujee or bad boujee is connected with something ‘fake’ or ‘imitative’. Boujee is a common slang term widely used in hip-hop culture and among African Americans. Boujee or bougie slang describes a person who pretends to lead luxurious lifestyle, meaninglessly spend a lot of money on flashy trifles but in fact, he is still connected with his poor roots.Last edited by scottb7; 02-28-2019, 12:13 PM.

So the experience is simply better in the new boats I have owned.
I assume the Boujee definition is just scottb7 trying to ruffle feathers and generate discussion. Class envy is a powerful thing.

They are taller and deeper than older boats, which also makes them safer. I can surf with the push of 1 button, instead of putting on a velcro or suction device, and I can switch sides immediately. Carpet on my old boats started to stink if left wet after several consecutive days on the lake. The list goes on.

Off topic: Yep, unfortunately true. I am glad we can all laugh about it. Maybe just sentimental today but feeling like maybe, just maybe, we all - at least the mainstays - have begin to understand and accept one another.
I do have that personality defect, of being driven to call out, and push people to examine and accept things for what I perceive is reality. Sorry.
