PLEASE HELP! 2019 Nautique 210 or no

I need help! Days away from ordering a Nautique 210, 2019. I was originally looking at a less expensive NXT20/22 but found the NXT22 to be the same as the KILLER deal I am getting in the 210. I’ve never owned a boat (I own 2 jetskis) and surfing is the most important to me. I need to order in the next few days or I’ll be without a boat again until next year. Any advice would be much appreciated! I really like the finishes on the Nautique but I’m worried it may be difficult to dial in the wave and learn the controls without much help. The local MC dealer is in the water ALL day with his customers helping them out. Not sure the Nautique dealer would do the same...... I can get the NXT20 for an affordable price or step up and spend more on the NXT22 or the 210... Are the controls easy to learn/touch screen use and will I be happy with the wave??? (I know I’ll have to upgrade the ballast eaither way)

Why won’t your dealer be available to help you learn the boat?

It isn’t difficult to dial in the surf wave. There are lots of threads here on that.

When I was looking to purchase I was pumped up when the NXT line came out... That was until I drove it. It was night and day difference between the 210. I’m not a huge surfer but everyone seems to love my wave. Seems easy to set up in my opinion. I’ve been very happy about my choice in a 210.

Setting up the 210 for surfing should be the last thing you are concerned with. It's a very easy boat to set up. Order it with Pro Ballast and it's as simple as pushing a button and surfing.

Order the 210 and don’t look back, great boats easy to set up. Will not be disappointed.

I was in the same place 3 months ago and decided to order a 210. For me the difference was the fit and finish of the 210 is light years ahead of the Mastercraft, especially the NXT series. I could have ordered a XT 21 for the same price as my 210 but still felt like the 210 was a better boat. That being said I haven’t even ridden in either but I feel good about my decision. Resale should be better too as there are so fewer Nautiques in the used market, especially in my area.

How’s the surf wave? All we want to do is surf. Also, does the interior seem small or limited on space?

It's a 21' boat so the space will be limited compared to larger boats of course, but not at all compared to other 21' boats. I would put the 210 surf wave against any 21' boat on the market and not be worried about the outcome. It only gets better with weight as well.

I'm sure there are many options, but I would never buy an NXT if I were interested in surfing. It has a VERY weak wave. One can ride a skim board on the NXT but barely. The 210 has a much stronger surf wave.

My family competes regularly and we train 300+ hours per season. We surf many different boats and I have been very underwhelmed by the NXT wave.

                    Good luck!

A SAN 210 or NXT? no decision to make. SAN!!! The nxt is not in the same league as far as i am concerned. I could go on, but SAN will hold its value, be much nicer than any NXT. And i own a MC.

In looked at a NXT20 here in Alaska. It looked for better in person than online. I’m leaning towards the 210 for sure for the add options, (I’m partial to JL audio) and do not like the MC sound systems. Also, the resale will blow the. XT series out of the water I’m sure. There aren’t any Nautiques to see in person (though I did see the GS20 on the floor last year and LOVED IT!!). So I’m buying it unseen. Would you say the 210 has a better surf wave than the GS20?

I saw the NXT20 in person. The owner is new to surfing but even at 220lbs he surfed behind it no problem and that’s with only the driver on the boy and upgraded rear ballast. (I’ve seen multiple videos and met/discussed it with his family). Maybe being a new boat owner anything would be impressive lol BUT you are convinced I will be far more impressed with the 210 surf wave? (Never seen one in person but I looked at the GS20 last year and fell in love! ) To add, I’ve only tried surfing once, I own jetskis, but I’m hooked. Never owned a boat so I’m also easily impressed....
thx a lot for chiming in!

                            Hi,

I think the thing to realize is that it is possible to surf almost any boat. Especially on the starboard (Goofy) side where the prop torque contributes to the wave size. Also a skim board (that many confuse with a surfboard) has much less drag than a surfboard making it easier to ride on a weak wave. So a large person riding, especially a skim board on the starboard side will be about as good as it gets for ease of riding a wave.

I ride a surfboard (thicker with 2 3" fins). I also ride on the regular side where the wave is weaker. As I mentioned my family competes across the country. I am the 2018 Masters World Champion, my son is the Amateur World Champion. We surf on dozens of boats every season, to give feedback and reviews. Of all of the boats we have surfed in the past two years the NXT had one of the weakest waves. In a strong headwind, on a surfboard, riding the port side wave, as experienced as we were, staying on the wave was a lot of work. On a G, 210, X24, Supra SA, SL, Centurion Ri, we could land difficult tricks in a 10 knot head wind without worrying about staying on the wave. Everyone makes their own choice. But I would NEVER advise anyone interested in surfing to buy an NXT. There are so many better options.

Amazing advice! What would you suggest to someone like me spending under 100k who is looking for a new surf boat? Only local dealers are Nautique and MC. My only options in my price range are NXT20/22, GS20 and SAN210. Almost exclusively for surfing. Max 5-7 people in the group, most of the time.
