    Top speed of G23

I just took delivery of my brand new 2019 G23 with the 450 hp. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet as the ice is still 2 feet thick up here in Saskatchewan I know this is completely irrelevant for a boat like this but for curiosity sake what is the G23's top speed with 450 hp. I know that it isnt important on a boat like this but I want to know.

Mine is two years old, but have no clue; let's see what folks say. if you came from a runabout as I did, cruising speed (make that comfortable cruising speed) will be vastly different. The G is a great boat-but make no mistake, it is essentially a "water tractor". It has only one purpose, to tow.

I have no clue either, but I'm curious as well. Hopefully someone will post the top end speed for the G23 with the H6 engine

I get asked this question quite often. I always say: "It's a Clydesdale, not a Greyhound."

I would say 39-40mph depending on altitude that is and the engine will be screaming at that. 24-26mph or so is where we cruise at and that's plenty. I ski at 33-34 behind my 18 but that's only for a few min at a time.

Green got it right. 5 G23s they all top out at 39 to 40mph. But with the 2:1 transmission the engine will be screaming and you will be consuming fuel faster than you can pour it out. Like most G owners you will hit Back to Dock and cruise at a more leisurely 25 mph. Enjoy the boat!

I figured it was in the 40 mph range max. But I dont plan on ever finding out for myself.

Shortly after purchasing our boat I ran it up to see what it would do. Btw, it was already broken in.... Don’t think we ever read speed over 38. Since that time the boat has never been over maybe 30. Our cruise to the dock speed is set at 25 and we use the extra time to get the boat cleaned up. Agree with above, the G is a phenomenal luxury tractor and we love it for what it is

                  2015 G23 with 450. Max speed at 1070ft above sea level 38mph. I’ve seen 39 register briefly....

AWhy does everyone treat these boats like they’re so precious? I run my G full out on a regular basis for barefooting or cruising back to the dock, or just for fun. Tops out around 43

It funny how often people ask this question. I guess they don't really know what else to say if they haven't been around boats much.

I've actually been around boats my whole life. I was raised in fort lauderdale and lived on a canal that was 3 minutes from broward marina. I was just curious. As I stated. Figured it would just be a straightforward answer. I know they arent meant to go fast. I know they are meant to tow. It still has a top speed and I'm curious what it is.

I think it’s more about the fuel gauge...

I've had my '18 up to 39/40mph once or twice for about a minute or so ... sounded like a rocket ready to explode at any moment haha, can't say it was an enjoyable ride at that speed
