2019 G23 steering assist

At 3 boat shows and the Canadian Nationals the dealers I met were all very focused on the Steering Assist option. My read is that the factory is pushing this option with significant dealer incentives. The factory probably realized the increased profit margin they can capture if they could offer it to customers buying a stock boat that does not have it factory installed. So the factory probably put together a dealer install kit with a clear set of procedures, jig and thru-hull seals for the installation. We are probably going to see these dealer installed options become very popular.

It is Robertson. This is our first time dealing with them but so far they've made it a really nice process. I probably should have just ordered it from the factory but I completely overlooked it as a possible option. He also said it could be done anytime it doesn't have to be when it first gets to their shop. Maybe I will give the boat a try without it for a while and if it seems like something we would use I can always have them put it on retroactively.

I would do this and see if its something you personally need. Could save yourself 8k.

Ok that price not bad but you still have the risk of 2 thru hull penetrations and probably an install job your dealer has never performed. Still a very complicated install

Not sure why you are so concerned about hull penetrations? I have installed additional ballast with new through hull pick ups on the 3 G23s I’ve owned and on several other boats prior to my Nautique’s. I always do my own install and they have not leaked a drop.

Fair enough, but still a very complicated install and little to no history on these installs performed by dealers. In fact no one to my knowledge on this forum has performed this install on their own or by a dealer. If I was purchasing a plus $160,000.00 boat , I would in no way go through this install for my reasons above and on this thread. I'm only one voice but that is my opinion.
