I am just wondering where have people found is the best place and the best way to mount a small Marine fire extinguisher on the boat. My fire extinguisher came with a strap but not really any place to mount it. I'm obviously not going to be drilling any holes or doing anything permanent but I'm just wondering where people are putting their fire extinguishers.

I have been ordering the built-in fire extinguisher system the last few years. I also keep a hand-held one onboard, usually just in the glove compartment or under a seat though. I don't usually permanently mount mine.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. If there's a better place for it, I haven't found it yet.

Dealer mounted mine tucked under the observer seat by where your feet would be if you flipped up the reversible seat, I love it because it’s hidden and you’d never know there were holes drilled because you will never see them. I’ll get pictures of it tomorrow if you’d like too see

As NautiqueJeff stated I went with the built in/auto system on my G23. The handheld extra unit is in the original box under the observers seat. That’s probably not recommended by USCG unless you have the built in system , however, I can tell you it does not roll around or cause any issues.

If you have the built in system, do you have to have a handheld on too? I realize it might be good practice to have one but is it required to pass an inspection?
