    230/236 Jump seat question

    Guys,

I bought a jump seat for my 236 on eBay. I got it to match the rest of the boat when I put new interior in this winter. I can't figure out how to mount the bracket to hold the seat in without removing the sea dek. I can't get a screwdriver/drill underneath to fit. There is not enough clearance. As far as I can tell, the entire shelf is Not removable? Is this true or can I remove the shelf the seat will rest on? I think I just need to peel off the sea dek and drill out holes for the bracket but I thought I would check before destroying these two pieces of seadek.

    Thanks,

    SSTEXAN

yes. It had the sano "N" logo prior. I put sea dek in a few years ago and replaced all carpet and sano. It lt looks like I am going to have to just drill a hole from the top and put a bolt through to hold the seat bracket in place. I looked again this weekend and it sure doesn't look like that platform is removable.

You may need to peel up the SeaDeck to access the screws for the "shelf." It's a separate piece, although I'm not certain how it's attached. I put those SeaDeck pieces on mine, replacing the original Nano pads. I also have the jump seat, and it's installed almost all the time...

Just so everyone wants to know. The shelf under the seadek areas holes that are countersunk for the seat bracket. The shelf is removable with screws.

My next question I have is my seat screws have a ton of play in them. I am not sure if that is normal or not? In order to tighten them up, I am worried I am going to have to cut the backing on the seat to tighten these screws up. I am calling them screws; I really mean the seat holder stainless bolt with a notch in them. Thanks,

If I remember correctly, those "studs" go through that black latch in your photo? If yes, I'm almost positive they are tight. My seat doesn't rock very much (if at all) when installed. And releasing it takes either two, or learning a trick to get them released. My seat is in the garage right now, I can check it tonight.

I remembered to check the jump seat, sorry for the delay. The studs are almost certainly mounted with a nut on each side of the seat base. You may need to remove the skin to get to the nut "on top." What I discovered is there is a notch on the seat base and there's a nut on the stud in/on the seat base bottom. Unless the stud is machined with a retainer or "carriage bolt" type of head, most likely a nut on top too.
