Best wake shape device for a 220

I'm picking up a 220 this week and I'm curious to know if anyone has a favorite wake shaper for this boat. I know there's the NSS system that a user is making for them but for now I want to stick with a suction device. I'm putting a lot of money into the boat to get her up to my standards so something has to give for now.

I know some of the plates are closer to perpendicular to the side of the boat while others are closer to 45 degrees. If anyone has experience with the different suction devices, especially on a 220, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

Haven’t tried one on a Nautique but a buddy has a Malibu without surf system that we put a Mission Delta on last summer and it made a huge difference cleaning up the wave. I also came across this video on YouTube that may help you. Compares 5 different shapers although I’m sure results may vary based on placement etc.

Just a follow up in case anyone else is curious. I ended up buying a Mission Delta and a Liquid Force Mega Wakesurf Edge after watching the video and talking to several people locally. I wanted the Delta to work best because it’s smaller meaning it would store easier and in theory create less drag which means less fuel burned. After getting out on the water the clear winner was the LF Mega Edge. The wave was cleaner and longer. Both had plenty of push so that wasn’t much different.

Boat was evenly weighted, stock ballast plus an extra 600 pounds in each locker, under bow seat sack and 300 pounds of lead at the rear bench. Wife and 3 small kids in the boat. I have to say that I’m very happy with the wave this boat makes. I’ve been surfing on my friend’s Centurion FI23 and now FI25 so my standards are high but this wave has me grinning. And I have over $100k less in my boat!

There seem to be some rather significant misconceptions about these "surf wedges" or "suck gates." They are not "Wake Shapers." They do not shape the wake at all. The wake is shaped by the hull of the boat.

These wedges go on the opposite side of the boat and push the stern of the boat over to "crab" the boat down the lake. That's all they do.

The fairly small differences you see in the video above are due to how much force the different wedges put on the boat. The more force, the more crab which creates a longer, but less steep wake. With less force, the wake is steeper, but not as long.

The best one is the one that doesn't come off all the time and creates the amount of crab to create the wake you like.

Different boat, 210, but so far great luck with original Mission Delta. Came off one time probably because I had it on the pinstripe where it won't stick very well. We used as directed with even weight and it made a huge difference for us. It floats well but I also connect the tether to a lift ring because I don't feel like having it chopped up by another boat if I don't get back to it quick enough. Somewhere I read about a wakeshaper flinging back at the boat because of the tether but the time it fell off this absolutely didn't happen with the Delta. Left it on by accident and was motoring back to my dock and it stayed on at speeds of 25 or so. Definitely cleans up the wake on the surf side and we have no regrets with the purchase.

We also have a 2006 220 SANTE. We went with the Swell Wakesurf Creater 2.0 last summer after watching/reading all the reviews out there. We've been satisfied with it and stock ballast. Will eventually upgrade ballast but one project at a time.
