Boat Wipe Down at end of day / Wax / Detail Spray

I like to think of myself as being overly anal with my boat like everyone else, but I'm loosing interest in the whole level of wipe down at the end of the day deal. Maybe because we stay out longer now that the kids are older, maybe because no one in my family has the patience to wait for me to wipe it down (to my level of satisfaction), maybe because my new boat is now 16 years (but looks almost new) or maybe because I just care less as I get older.

So I don't want to start a whole thread about brands of wax and detail sprays and which is better and why. Ugh, beaten to death already. I hate waxing and never really don't do it. I keep it clean and use detail spray. I can hear people moaning already. The interior vinyl gets cleaned at the end of the season, but 303'd regularly.

The point of this post is to share opinions on how people clean when they finish their day and the products they use. My detail spray is almost empty so I need to restock. Same with my microfiber wipes.

    My current process is:
    • put the boat back on the trailer and go park in the shade at the ramp parking lot
    • get out and wipe the boat down with tap water in a bottle from home and microfiber towel and make sure it is dry with no water spots
    • wipe the tower and interior down with clean side of microfiber towel
    • detail spray occasionally if time allows (like once every 10 times out)
This past weekend I shortened the process a bit by wiping most of the water line off while waiting for my wife to get the trailer as I was floating. Honestly, that saved me 10-15 minutes of work. Our water is generally not dirty or gross, but we do get a slight slime lime after a day of boating.

Bring it on...brands of products, process you use, suggestions, etc.

    Thanks

I pull the boat out, spray it with Babes Boat Bling while still wet, wipe it off and done.

Have not had to do a full wax/buff in 3 seasons, but it sits in my garage 90% of the time.

We use about a spray bottle's worth of Babes every time we go out - and refill from a gallon jug. We just spray the whole outside down really liberally and wipe it off with two big microfiber towels. Takes maybe 10 minutes total (including running down the trailer) and it has eliminated the need to wax. No pre-cleaning, drying, etc. Boat always looks awesome.

I trailer my boat also. During the summer I hit the lake at least 4 times a week and stay until dark. There really isn’t much time to do a full detail at the launch. I put the boat on the trailer, drive to the tie-down area, grab two microfiber towels(one in each hand and wipe it down like Danielson in the karate kid), tie down the boat and go home. Once a week I do a thorough clean and apply 303 to the interior and some hot sauce to the exterior. Of course I always start the season with a good coat of wax.

^^^ I do this exact thing. Plus boat bling vinyl sauce & wipe down the interior. Probably once a month Ill apply 303 or babes conditioner to the interior after the wipe down.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Sounds like we are all doing similar things.

My boat is in the garage all the time when not in use. I had to tow home in the rain last week and nearly had a meltdown. My wife convinced me it's time to dial the anality back.

Mine gets Boat Bling Hot Sauce on the outside and vinyl sauce on the inside after every outing. I use their condition Sauce about three times a summer and pay the deal $250 every year when they summarize it to do a full detail and wax.

I wipe mine down with either aquawax, ultimate quick wax or hot sauce. I rotate them. Inside I use chemical guys interior detailer then 303. I buy in gallons and have them in zep bottles. I use nice micro fiber towels the thick ones.

Hot Sauce or boat bling every wipe down, takes 10 mins.... wax once a season.

I use the Bow to Stern wax. I put about 4 coats on to start the season and then usually wipe down with towels at the ramp and then a coat of BTS before it goes into the garage.
                      303 on the inside.

                        Ford Nationals ?

If our weekend wasn't so jammed, I'd offer you a ride (we are not boating due to schedule) or a beer. Are you staying in Carlisle?

I ceramic coated my boat. When I pull out the water its a 10 min drive to my house. I wash the boat inside and out and then use the conditioning spray for the ceramic coat. I wash my boat every time it gets used.
