I used to wax my boats several times a year. Now I pretty much just wipe it down really well using Babes Boat Bling at the end of the weekend. The boat stays looking great. I keep the boat on a covered lift with the cover and side skirts on to prevent UV oxidation during boating season. The boat stays in a garage in the off season.

I use 303 on the interior a couple times a month.

There are several post in this thread referring to babes boat bling and I wanted get clarification for people looking. Boat Bling is a line of boat cleaning products and their water spot remover and sealant is called Boat Bling hot sauce.
Babes is a completely different line of boat cleaning products and there water spot remover is called babes boat bright.
Do you guys have a preference over which one or are they both pretty much the same thing?

Use babes products (green/bright for gelcoat, blue/seat soap for seats) every week end when boat is dry and before covering- wax with premium marine wax from meguiars (including bottom) every 3 months or at oil change during the season - 303 aerospace protectant on seats when I wax or when needed (harder to clean with seat soap) - Seadeck with boat soap every year because I have a bottle and never use it for anything, rinse with hose bib. Always clean the gel coat with green product before waxing and always clean the seats with blue product before applying 303. Same as Evening Shade full cover + side including swim step on lift and garage off season.

I almost use a full bottle of green product every week end. Buy them online per gallon once a year when a big discount appear at wakemaker or others.

I do have "boat bling" marks remover or something like that and other products to remove hard spots but never use them since on the lift. I also have the white product from babes for seat protection but never used it as I am happy with 303.

The boat looks like boat show condition/ brand new after couple of years.

Thx Scooter Mcgavin for that clarification. My husband and I were getting confused amidst the inter-lingo between the two. So is the Babes Boat Bright the actual “soap” to wash the exterior with? Or do we need to wash it with another marine soap and then use the boat bright?

We used to do the whole wipe down and wax thing but stopped about 10 years ago. Now it’s put the boat on the trailer and put it on the driveway or in the garage 10 minutes later. Repeat daily. Have it detailed once or twice a year. Boat (G23) looks new after a detailing. Inside storage is key. Anybody want to buy some cleaning products?

Takes maybe 10 minutes total (including running down the trailer) and it has eliminated the need to wax. No pre-cleaning, drying, etc. Boat always looks awesome.
Which style microfiber towels do you prefer for the after use wipe down for drying and hot sauce application? Do you use the "waffle" style or "thick pile" style microfiber towels?

I use the Chemical Guys orange "Fatty" towel. Nice and big, 2 of them takes care of a G23 wipedown - switching mid way through to avoid any contaminants scratching.

I stand corrected. I use Babe's Boat Bright not Boat Bling.

My schedule is intermittent and my boat sits in a lift these days ,but back when I trailered I did things this way.

Boat specific sprays of your choice Babes ,Boat Bling , Boat candy , are pretty pricey. In my opinion they’re worth the cash due to the properties of leaving the protective wax behind and keeping the gelcoat nice a clean. But if you use that stuff every time you’re in an out of the water for the weekend you could blow through galllon in one long weekend, and that will add up .

So for the in and outs outs at the beginning of the weekend I used vinegar/water solution (super cheap)every time I pulled out of the water for the night, , then the last wipe down of the weekend before I put the boat up I’d use the boat specific spray . I only had to wax once in the middle of the season and once at the end of the season before I put it away . With my boat on a lift I now , I wax 3-4 times a season as the sun takes its toll drying out the gelcoat and I can’t wipe down after every use due to time . So waxing that often doesn’t give the Waterspots a good bond to hold too. I use Boat Bling Hot Sauce now because in my experience it attacks the Waterspots that I sometimes have to leave after a quick set , better than any competitor in a single wipe down product. When I used to trailer, pull out wet, and immediately wipe down I used Boat Candy as it had the highest gloss. All of the boat sprays do a great job IMO, there is a just a benefit to each single one that I would say makes one better than the other in certain situations for different owners.

I always used a vinyl spray for wipedowns as well .
I feel like taking the extra 15 min to simply spray and wipe down the entire boat after you pull it out is much better and easier than taking hours out of the middle of your week to do cleanings. Just my opinion .

Did you dry it first and then spray and wipe down again. Or do you spray it on while the boat is still wet and then wipe down?

Always use the product while the boat was wet. No need to dry first as they’re designed that way . It’s a simple one step process.

I wax twice a year, beginning and middle of the season. Every time we are out and done for the day it comes home and gets washed inside and out. Hot sauce and vinyl sauce after the wash. Boat stays in a enclosed storage unit when not in use.

Really surprised to see no one mention ceramic coating. Thoughts?

Well that most certainly wouldn't be something you'd do as a wipe down at the end of the day. We're talking about products that keep the shine and remove water spots here.

Keeping a good coat of wax on makes daily wipe downs 10 times easier. I'm cheap so I use a water/windex/vinegar solution (light on the vinegar to minimize the wax stripping). Spray and wipe dry while still wet from the lake. Straight wipe-down/dry on the interior, with 303 a few times a month.

I've heard some good things about the turtle wax wax and dry from a price standpoint and may give that a try one of these days
