Ceramic coatings

I was swimming around the boat yesterday and had my wife throw me a micro fiber towel. I can say that it wasn't super easy but with some minor elbow grease I was able to rub off a good portion of the scunge that was built up. Was hard to really dig in since I was floating and pushing hard just pushed me away from the boat. haha.

I talked with a fiberglass / gel coater that does some amazing work, who is also a consultant to one of the ceramic coat companies. He said that the stuff is pretty good for a season, but not to believe the 3-5 year claims. Interested to hear others long-term experiences.

If this is true, the cost of Ceramic coating and prep is not worth it. Better to get a decent exterior detail done once or twice a season with quality products. I know one of my friends uses a coating from The Chemical Guys and he swears by it.

I store my boat indoors, towing an hour each way, but with a babes wipe-down after each outing and waxing once a year, my 2016 G looks better than some of the new ones on the lot. You all that keep them in the water are the ones really putting this stuff to the test.

I have seen folks use the ceramic stuff, works great to begins with but fades in the sun just like any other. Best protection is a good wax and some way to keep the sun off it.

I would really recommend you look into adding sun skirts. There's no wax or coating that can keep UV from oxidizing gel coat.

I am a big fan of skirts myself. To me it should be the standard for non-trailer-able covers.
