Life Vest for 8 month Old

Looking for some input. My 8 month baby girl is starting to go out in the boat with us. We have been slowly acclimating her to the boat in the driveway and she is really liking the boat. When we did this I forgot to also acclimate her to the life jacket at the same time. So now we have the boat on the lift and she has to wear the life jacket and needless to say she hates it. It seems that it tight around her neck and the chest is too big so she can't get her hands together. She doesn't like her movement limited. Our problem is her weight is below 30 lbs so the options are very limited. Looking for a neoprene option, but everything is for too much weight.

The current life jacket is Stohlquist Infant Jacket. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Looking to see what other more experienced parents did for their little ones also other insights into acclimating the little one.

    Thanks!

This jacket is what we had for both our girls. Worked great with minimal to no rubbing or irritation like most jackets will do. Top safety part for head works great as a pillow for napping also.

We used one of the one piece swimsuit with the built in floats.

Funny, just messed with getting a life jacket for an 8 month old. We tried a few different ones from Hyperlite, Stohlquist, etc. The main problem is how high they ride up and cut into their chin/face, even while sitting. We found the Ronix infant vest to be the most comfortable looking - has a fleece lining around the collar and seems a little more cut away at the face area. We have a Hyperlite as a back-up - with infants you always need two of everything. : )

Thanks I will check those out! Yep - I feel like having a child on the boat has added about 5 more bags to bring to the boat!

          Appreciate your help

The infant vest from REI was the winner for both our kids. Very low cut out in front so it did not ride up and was foam, not neoprene. The foam seemed to keep them much cooler.

Ronix is the best I’ve had. The fleece makes a big difference.

Both my girls liked the liquid force infant jacket. About $40 well worth it. (My 1yo literally freaks out when we start putting the toddler one on my 4yo.....she wants her life jacket too, doesn’t want to “miss the boat!”)

Thanks - we ordered up the Hyperlite and Ronix to see which one she likes the best...appreciate all the help.

I hadn't seen the Ronix one with the fleece at the collar. That's awesome.

We go out every weekend morning with our 3 year old, 20 month old and 1 month old. My friend often brings his two year. Shear chaos but nothing beats family boat time.

A trick we figured out was a big dog bed for the kids to nap in on the floor. Works great!!

Also noise cancelling ear phones for our infant for the loud engine noise.

Under 25 lbs., the Salus-Bijoux is the best we found. My kid hated every other one.
