Kind of in the middle. They use continuous-cone mid-bass driver and a component style compression driver. However, the compression drive uses a short horn flare as compared to other pro-axial HLCD.

I will be interested to see these in action.

I really like Roswell products, but some of their previous tower speakers have seemed a little too bright for me. They go loud for sure, but I prefer the tone of the JL's. Hopefully these are a little closer, as having some options to the JL's would be great. We have the R1 sub, LED controller and sub enclosure, and love them.

The LED housing is intriguing. Again, interested to see it. There is a fine line between having some cool LED accents and looking like a college dorm room. The one downside for us is that all our other accent lights are red, and I have been told that having red or blue lights on a tower is problematic at our lake. I have seen this issue discussed elsewhere as well.

Light colors aside, there are regulations that seemingly prohibit any kind of externally mounted accessory light from being lit while underway - other than the prescribed nav lights. The thought being that the lights interfere with other boats ability to clearly see the navigation lights and understand a boats intention.

USCG inland code below - which most states use as the basis for their enforcement. It is a little vague, but that leaves it open for your LEO to interpret as they choose. If they really wanted, they probably could get you for using tower lights, docking lights, light bars and even underwater lights while underway. At a minimum it could be used as a pretext to stop and check you out. The code goes on to describe the only approved lights.

Application
§ 83.20
(a) Rules in this subpart (Rules 20-31) (§§ 83.20 through 83.31) shall be
complied with in all weathers.
(b) The Rules concerning lights (§§ 83.20 through 83.31) shall be complied
with from sunset to sunrise, and during such times no other lights shall be
exhibited, except such lights as cannot be mistaken for the lights specified in
these Rules or do not impair their visibility or distinctive character, or interfere
with the keeping of a proper look-out.
(c) The lights prescribed by these Rules shall, if carried, also be exhibited
from sunrise to sunset in restricted visibility and may be exhibited in all other
circumstances when it is deemed necessary.
(d) The Rules concerning shapes shall be complied with by day.
(e) The lights and shapes specified in these Rules shall comply with the
provisions of Annex I of these Rules (33 CFR Part 84).
(f) A vessels navigation lights and shapes may be lowered if necessary to pass
under a bridge.
