2001 Air Nautique 196, high altitude prop?

    Hi all,

I've been searching online, lots of opinions.

We have the above boat, bought used last year, in great shape.

We have it at Lake Tahoe altitude, ~6500 ft, and have found it doesn't have a lot of "bite" when getting started up. It also really flies through the gas, more than we are used to.

The going theory is that it is not the right prop. It looks like a 13x16 "LEGEND" prop (?OJ), and it says 10 99 on it too, so I assume that means it is from 1999?

Any comment on this prop, and should we consider spending the ~$450 minimum it would cost to find something else? I see lots of refs to Acme, but not any one specific model for this combination AT ALTITUDE. (we dont plan to bring it down).

thanks a lot for any recommendations.

    Ben

I think I have the same prop but on a 98 SN. I asked acme and they gave me recommendations and I will post them tomorrow but it highly depends on what you want to do.
    Ultimately I would contact acme.

I would try the acme 654. Not that familiar with OJ.
