    GS22 2018 Wake Upgrade?

    Hi I have a GS22 2018 and I am wondering two things:
    1) For using factory ballast what are the best settings (NCRS, NSS, Ballast configuration) to create the best surf and wakeboard wave possible?
    2) Is it possible to add pro ballast to the 2018 model so the extra bags come up on the link panoray ( like a software upgrade or something)?

There's precious little on surfing the GS22 here. As far as adding Pro Ballast after, yes. It's not that difficult either. Plumb in the bags and then enable the Pro Ballast option in the Dealer's Menu in the LINC.

Let me start by stating that I am new to surfing. I have a GS22 with pro ballast. I was told, and have primarily been using NSS at 0 and NCRS 5. I started with all ballast at 100% full. Everyone has been surfing port side so far, so I have started playing with lowering the starboard rear ballast (to about 80% so far). Also I feel I need more length and push still, and I would rather not add any lead as I trailer it and ski. I will start moving people to the bow to see how that helps, but most want to sit in the rear. I usually run 3 adults and 3 kids in the boat while 1 adult surfs. Just surfing a HL Broadcast at this time. Good luck, someone with more experience will chime in soon I would imagine.

Try adding some NCRS in and see what that does. At 5 it isn't doing anything at all. Try lowering it to 3 or 2. Maybe even zero. This will give you the most lift in the rear and possibly lengthen the wake out some.

        What speed are you running?

Ok thanks will do. I am still experimenting with speed as well, around 10.7 mostly.

The gs22 seems to love speed for surfing. We are usually around 11.2 to 11.6 now. The factory preset is 11.2 and that should've been my first clue. Also, I am finding that lowering the NCRS below 4 really takes push out of the wave.

Thanks, that is a bit different from what Charles recommended which seemed to help a bit actually, at least at the speed of 10.7 that we were running. I will try more speed for sure next time out, I just didn't notice much difference from 10.7 to 11.2 for the short time I tried it. It seems to me that there has to be some clue coming from the fact that the push is definitely there when turning towards the surf side. I will try that next time out also.

I am going to try dropping the bow weight to 70 to 80% next time out and see how that goes with the speed around 11.4 or 11.6mph. The problem with more NCRS is it lifts the rear and that is where the push comes from.

Do you have the pro ballast in your GS?

i have noticed the lip in the wave is diminished as the ncrs number is lowered.
I have not noticed the loss of push.
We surfed my boat all last weekend with 100% full ballast, 4-10 people in boat, NSS 0-1, NCRS 5-3. speed 11.5 or 11.6. we would shift people around in boat to surf side, and lower NCRS as needed.
Everybody seemed to like the wave. Some actually liked the lip to play on.
I don't seem to notice the lip on the starboard side when I am riding.

                      just experiment with it.
I agree the GS needs more speed.

                      Good luck, have fun
