Looking at 2 2014 G21’s. One has the 409, the other the 550. Were there any issues with the different engines this year or engines to avoid? Anything else specific to look at or be concerned about this model year on G21? Thanks in advance!

In the G21, both of those engines would be fine. The 550 in a G21 would make that thing a rocket ship!I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. Premium fuel isn’t an issue as I can only get marine fuel on lake anyways. Boat will be out of warranty so I’m also concerned about maintenance or any additional issues a supercharger may bring. The one with 550 is a nicer color but more hours. Anyone here tell me length of boat and trailer with tongue folded? Will it fit under 8’ door?

I'm at altitude & went with the 550 in the same boat. Based on how it performs, I'd say the 450 may be fine, but the 409 would sure be a big drop. With the 550, I can't even tell the ballast is full. The boat just flies around. Pretty fun. I can't speak to the long term maintenance since I recently bought it, but it's been great so far this year.
Happy shopping!

I think it depends on your elevation. If you are high up then the 550 may be a good option.
I am at 800ft elevation and with my 2014 24ft boat and almost 5000lbs of ballast, I have never had any issue with my ZR409. Fully loaded and surfing at 11mph, only running 3250rpm with my surf prop (14x14.25) and at WOT with empty ballast can still hit close to 40mph. Reliable and proven engine with great power at my elevation.
