SAN 220 upgrade Sea Dek vs FAE vs. Wetsounds

I’m ready to start making a few in season upgrades to our “new to us” SANTE 220, and would like some input on upgrades you all have done and which ones were worth it in your opinion.

Currently debating between all new Sea Dek, currently we have no carpet as the previous owner had lost the large section of factory grey carpet. He did give me the “Griffin Logo” carpet but it has never been used. The color is brown and kinda clashes with the boat. If anyone wants it PM me and I’ll let it go for cheap.

My Wife really want a Fresh Air Exhaust, she is sensitive to the fumes and they seem to bother her when she surfs. I personally don’t notice it much so I would rather see the $750 go elsewhere. How difficult is the install can it be a DIY in a short amount of time to not takeaway from too many lake days?

Lastly, I have been considering a pair of wetsounds Rev-10’s for the tower. I’m also very open to other brand or size recommendations. Rev-10s seem to have most hype around them, I don’t have a sub and know those speakers sound great as I would like to avoid a sub.

Any thoughts? Where do you think the money would best be spent? I know the price points are a little different but curious on your input.

You could do FAE and new carpet for the price of seadek. I’m not a fan of Seadek. Carpet lasts just as long in my opinion.

Just to give you an idea. I just did my 230. Replaced carpet and previous seadek with another color. Almost 2k. Summer price though. Probably should have done it in the winter.

I have an 07 220 SANTE. I put gator step in it this summer which I love. So much better than the wet smelly carpet. Also I have rev8’s on my tower with the led rings on them. They really crank and I would highly suggest anything wetsounds. I don’t have the surf exhaust but have considered it. Same thing, it doesn’t really bother me when I surf. Let me know if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help.

If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy. FAE for sure. Quiets it down significantly also, so you won’t need as much stereo. IMHO the Rev 10s are overkill for surfing, but to each is own. I like a solid bottom end on my music, so I would add a sub before upgrading towers. You could do a solid sub, amp and some decent towers that will throw to the surfer for much less than just the cost of the Rev 10s. Plus you still need a ridiculous amount of power for those which will probably require a second battery if you don’t have one.

FAE will change your outlook forever ....I have now had it on 6 boats and i will never own a boat without it. The noise reduction alone allows you to enjoy the boat all day long with your head ringing. It’s worth every penny. Install maybe takes 2-3 hours depending how handy you are . Their customer service is outstanding. They may still offer you a forum discount. Of the upgrades you mention , that’s the must have.

Carpet vs sea deck. Everyone has their opinion , and seadeck seems to be the flavor of the times. However I love having removable carpet that I can simply pull and power wash . Deckadence would actually be my number one choice .

As as far as Rev 10’s ......are you looking to get sound back to a rider 80ft back or do you mainly surf ?

I just got a new to me 2009 SAN 230 and installed both Seadek and FAE at time of purchase. Very happy with both investments and wouldn't change either.

A local wakeboarder's sister was killed by CO poisoning a number of years ago. Knowledge of this, and knowing I plan on operating the boat with my kids and their friends made the FAE a pretty simple decision. I didn't DIY it though. We've only had the boat out a couple of times, only once surfing, but I'm impressed.

The seadek is undoubtedly something of an aesthetic preference, but in our case I'm really thrilled with the outcome. I paid about $2000 installed. A couple of pics if it helps:

I'm a music fan so subs and wetsounds are a must. Kids like to hear the music when tubing plus I like solid bass so I upgraded the system. I just purchased a SAN230 and am waiting for the shop to complete upgrades before I take possession, its killing me not having a boat. My previous SAN210 had carpet and I just powerwashed each season to keep it clean. The new boat has the Seadek so I've no experience with it yet. I'd say FAE first, sound then Seadek.

I've done all 3. Everyone is different, but if I had to do it all over again or was in your situation, I would prioritize as follows.
                  1. FAE. I don't wakesurf often, but everyone else wants to now. My mom was famous for sitting in the back taking photos of us and the grandchildren but often complained of getting headaches. I'd always assumed it was just long days in the sun, I now realize it was probably co2. Plus your wife wants it... it's also the cheapest upgrade... seems like a no-brainer.
                  2. Wetsounds. Pricey, but loud and super good quality, especially the 10's over the 8's. I would question why you're opposed to a sub tho?
                  3. Lastly sea deck. Maybe I'm one of the few that isnt that impressed. Had it get so bad after 3 years nautique replaced it underwarranty. I've been more carefulwith the new stuff, but think carpet has its place so long as you keep it clean and let it dry out (super easy with snaps) but I'm in AZ where it was 115° this weekend. Good luck and enjoy the new boat!

                    FAE for sure!

When you go to replace your tower speakers in would consider exile xm9s. Mine sound great behind the boat. Plus about half the cost of wetsounds.

I’m with 210Surfer, keep the wife happy first and you’ll be enjoying the boat more often. Also, as stated on here I think you’ll be pretty happy with the FAE. Haven’t done it myself yet but considering it for sure.
