I just heard last night that Alabama is banning wake surfing senate bill 281.

SC just passed a new regulation prohibiting surfing within 200 feet of docks and anchored boats. It’s gotten much better but I suspect $7/gallon marina gas may also be a factor. Boat traffic on Lake Keowee has greatly decreased this year.

From what I have been following state to state, most of the new wakesurf regulations have gone the route of 200 ft from shoreline or structures for the most part.

We just went from 50 to 100' at a couple of the Brazos River Authority lakes for no wake, but 200' would be even better. The problem with 200' or really any measure of distance not delineated by a bouy or something like "length of a football field" is that the same low information, low situational awareness people that can't manage their own wake without the rules have absolutely no idea what 200' looks like from the helm of a boat.
