Like many members, I purchased SkiSafe insurance because of their reputation and low premiums, but the one issue I had with my policy was that it had extremely high deductables vs competitive carriers. On my 2017 G23 I had a $5,000 deductable and $15,000 deductable during lay up periods which to me seemed off the charts. When I called SkiSafe they said the reason the deductables were so high was because the value of your boat. After I saw another member's, SkiSafe policy with a $1,000 deductable and $3,000 lay up deductable , I said I want to change mine. The difference was his boat value was not as high as my G. I reduced my boat value by like $20,000 and I was able to receive the much lower and realistic deductables. Anyway my 2 cents if other G owners are experiencing the same issues. There will be members who will say I'm an idiot for lowering my boat value, but I thought the lower deductables make better sense in the grand scheme of boat coverage. I understand there is a trade off between lower deductables and a complete boat loss but that is the gamble I have chosen.

I just got insurance for my "new to me" 2016 200 Sport Nautique. I priced out Progressive, Ski Safe and BoatUS. I have used all 3 over the years and check prices yearly as I've noticed that while all have disappearing deductibles their rates typically go up as the disappearing deductibles go down. Go figure, right? On any given year one has been cheaper than the other for me but this time around BoatUS was the clear winner both from coverage to deductibles. This was a real shock for me as I left them about 4 years ago when they raised my insurance by close to $100 after the hurricane that hit the northern east coast. Living in Michigan I had a hard time with the reasoning that my insurance was going up because of hurricane damage in another part of the country, but I digress.
Point is don't get all hung up on Ski Safe because you think they may be skier friendly. BoatUS this time around had better medical, comprehensive, collision and deductibles and was just shy of $100 less for the year. They even threw in $2500 in on the water towing with the deal this year. It doesn't take long to do a rate check these days and while $100 might not be much cash to some I'll keep it for gas and beer rather than give it to an insurance company.

I actually tried to raise mine with skisafe this year and they told me not to. Leave it and if it’s a total loss they evaluate market value either way. Not sure who to trust these days but was only going to raise it a few grand. In the middle of a claim from some on water storm damage now and they have been good so far.

I guess I am kind of confused. It has been a few years, but if I remember right when I signed up with ski safe, I picked the deductible. So I don't understand why you would be complaining about something you yourself picked.
P.S. Since it came up I was curious and emailed them to find out that for $43 additional I could move to the vanishing deductible plan. Not sure what I think about that.

My coverage is for boat at 120K and trailer at 5K (Paid a good bit less)
Deductible is 1K and it notes 3K for windstorm. It does not mention a layup deductible.
Full premium is $770 with liability at 500K
Interested to see feedback on coverage.

I have a layup period which really helps lower the premium . My layup period is Oct 15 - April 15. When I recently made this change I added the disappearing deductible. Total fully loaded premium is $614. For this premium rate, safe boat course and PN discounts were applied.
