On my 05 the fuel filler passage is just large enough for unleaded nozzle. the problem is i dont fill up my boat at a gas station very often, i bring cans down to the lake. anything other than the small nozzle cans wont fit in. Has anyone taken the screws out that have the block built in and taken it out? It looks doable but wanted to see if this has been attempted before i do it. thanks, Jon

RE: Fuel filler opening too small
Did they change the filler neck at some point?
My '02 has a decent size opening, the same size at the gas cap.
I would say if there is just a screwed in restrictor, I would pull it out. Probably like cars to prevent the larger "leaded" fuel nozel in the filler neck. Not that you can even get leaded anymore.

I have no fuel on my Lake and must carry it all in, I set the can(s) on my trunk and let em flow. It is a little slow but it beats pouring it in. Hose fits in my 05' filler no problem.
The link is for Bass Pro however I believe Overtons and DIM sells these as well.

Yah, they changed it for 2005 to that little opening. Questions:
1. How does that hose work? It says on the bass pro site it is a "pump".
2. Has anybody pulled out the insert to make the opening larger?-Jon

RE: Re: RE: Fuel filler opening too small
Jon,
Place your gas can higher then fuel destination (I set can on the sundeck of my 206), your filler hole in this case, stick the brass end of the hose in your fuel can and the other end down the filler hole, work the brass end up/down in fuel several times or until the fuel reaches at or near the filler hole, siphon will begin and continue until fuel is gone. It really works great, you never spill a drop and it only takes a couple minutes to transfer a 6gal can hands free, best $6 I ever spent!

RE: Re: RE: Fuel filler opening too small
Actually my 03' has the smaller hole opening. I've found that a couple of lake side marinas have some old pump nozzles, probably reused leaded nozzles, and they won't fit. I too carry a funnel but, man is it slow.
On the removal and opening of the hole, it might be more work than you think. You have to gain access to the back of the opening to loosen up the hose clamp and then remove all the screws from the topside and cut the sinkaflex to pull the filler opening off. Hardest part is gaining access to the backside.

Mikeski,
Probably not because then you'd have to feed the filler tube through the gunwale and such. I've found that the factor frequently tiewraps stuff to the hose.

I just ordered two of them. Hope it works. I still want to hear from somebody who has removed the restrictor plate.-Jon

RE: Re: RE: Fuel filler opening too small
Siphon is the way to go. we use some clear 1" hose and siphon all of our gas. No more holding gas cans, No more messing with busted or leaky nozzles or funnels. Empties a 5-6 gallon can in a couple minutes.
We just have to seal the opening and push both sides of the can in until gas flows through the hose and then let go, it takes care of itself.
Does the hose above have a valve or something to start the flow?I don\'t care.
