FIRST TIME BUYER wtb $30k budget

    Hi Friends,
Long time reader. First time posting here, first time boat purchase. Always the passenger, never the driver.

I would love some feedback on boats with the following priorities

    #1. Budget $25-30k
    2. 21-22' preferred length to fit in the garage which has a 23-10" length
    3. reliable boat and motor (engine, components, longevity)
    4. . Surf wave quality as is ( its going to take awhile to learn to boat before i can learn to adjust wake, ballasts, fins, gates, wedges etc)
    5. 10-12 seater. 4 adults , the rest little kids
    6. Heater (wife, lol) and kids are 11,9,6,2. We boat cold utah mountain lakes and i want a longer season. Not sure if that can be added after market.

constantly debating with friends about getting an old top of the line boat vs a newer base model (moomba, heyday, supreme sanger, etc). Read those threads for months too. THANKS ALL!

Jeez, with the requirement for 11-14 seats that's going to be tough. I was really going to recommend a SV-211 until you got to that.

4 adults , the rest kids . Is that 10 people of 1350 lbs ? The old 04 wakesetter 21.5 seemed tight but acceptable

I surf my buddy's SV-211 regularly. In fact, we just surfed it yesterday afternoon. The SV-211 is fine up to about 5 people. With six it really starts to feel crowded.

              210. Sounds like the boat for you. Although I have to differ with Charles on the 5 people thing for the 211. We had 4 adults and 6 kids in ours all weekend and it didn’t feel crowded to me.

'07 210, or a 220, but the 220's are creeping up in $ due to the fact they will surf very well...BUT, you will be over $30 for either unless you steal one, or, the boat is beat...

2007 210 is your tango...'08's hold their value better because the cockpit layout was changed and stayed the same until 2014 models.

220, 2006/7, although if you can get an '08 the instruments were updated, and Zero Off became the speed control. This is a preference, but, I prefer the ZO system over Perfect Pass.

'07 is the first year for the hull that continued up through... 2014?? Later? The '06 and earlier 210 is smaller in beam (91" vs 98") which makes a big difference for interior space.

daveybobcat , since you've listed surfing as your priority, the "OG" 210 hull is not the best choice. They will surf ok, but it will take some work to get there. Do some research and you'll see that you're probably going to have to increase your budget a bit, or consider Malibu too.
A 226 ('03-'09/10? version) is difficult to get a surf wake, the 211 maybe your best bet, they are smaller, but not terrible and they will surf pretty well.

Buying a boat without a trailer (like that 2008) can be tough since its pretty hard to find a good trailer specific to the model you need and buying one new can be pretty spendy, $5k+. Looks like a nice boat, just something you will want to consider.
