There has been some confusion lately regarding Private Messages. This is just a quick rundown to let everyone know how they work.
When you compose a private message and then send it, it is sent to your Outbox until the recipient opens it. Once it is opened, it is then automatically transferred to your Sentbox. If you have PM’s that appear to be stuck in the Outbox it is because the recipient has not opened them yet. This is good because you can tell when someone has opened your PM.
There is an option that I like to use to make sure I receive my PM’s in a timely manner. Set your preferences to “Pop-up window on New Private Message”. When you get a new PM, a pop-up will appear telling you that you have a new PM. There are also options to set so that you can receive an e-mail when when a reply has been posted on a topic that you already posted in.
To access the preferences menu, click on “Profile” at the top of the page. Scroll down until you see the radio buttons that apply.
On a side note, this is a great time to update all of your account info, e-mail address, phone numbers, new boat, etc.
