Keep/Upgrade 230 or g23

So I have a 2016 230 with 200+ hours that I really like. I have it sacked out and it has a great surf wave. It is running out of warranty and have some worries about the screen crapping out. We primarily surf with some wakeboarding and have a marina slip. Have a friend with a g23 and like some of the upgrades but don’t feel his surfwave is any better. We are not super happy with the stereo on our 230 and would like the strapless racks and the storage would be nice since ours is mostly taken up with bags. Still feels like
The g23 is a lot more $ and not sure the value is there for our purposes. Can’t decide whether to keep mine, new 230 or gently used and newer (2018ish) g23. Anyone care to help me decide?

You need to keep reading your first sentence back to yourself. The grass isn’t always greener. You won’t be improving your surf wake and you definitely won’t be improving your handling. Drop a $6K stereo in it and be done or wait for Nautique to come out with a surf-specific boat that kills the competition like the G did to wakeboarding.

What makes you think that the screen will crap out? I have not heard of issues with the 230 screens going bad.... Am I missing something?

Besides what Markj said....you are over the hump on the main depreciation and your boat will hold value very well over next 3-5yrs in this economy. IMO upgrading will give you more storage and.... not much else in terms of functionality/usability (plus you will spend more on fuel), and depending on how you keep the boat will possibly require larger tow vehicle and/or lift, etc. You could easily upgrade the stereo system for reasonable price and I can say from personal experience that adding a Fresh Air Exhaust was also a worthwhile upgrade not only making the boat so quiet that I hear the water splashing against the hull, but also seemed like a stereo upgrade since surfer no longer has the exhaust pointed at them. IMO, the REV-8 and REV-10 tower speakers are hard to beat. I have 2) REV-8's on my tower and while I like the music bumping I am not a stereo geek so its all I need to be happy, my buddy installed 2) REV-10's that he found used and his sounds incredible.
For similar reasons, I decided last year to keep my 2014 for another 3yrs (maybe longer) and just do the tweaks/upgrades to it that I wanted.
You gotta do what makes you happy, just sharing my personal perspective on how I reached my decision

Thanks for the input. The screen will go purple with lines it in once I a while but seems to be be normal after a reboot. This year it took a few re boots on one occasion. It is good to have some sane feedback as easy to get sucked into the new and pretty money pit spiral. I’m gonna stick with what I have and maybe make a few upgrades - stereo and maybe get some Bimini surf pockets sewn in and perhaps strapless racks. This boat throws an awesome wave and I don’t have a mark on it. The quality of these boats is so good - vinyl looks new, no rattles... night and day compared to the centurions and moombas I’ve seen that looked pretty rough after 5 years.
