Nothing Went Wrong With My Boat This Weekend

I'm not posting this to be smug or something, because I know it could come across that way. I just wanted to start a thread NOT on the theme of solving a problem, but celebrating the successful combination of preventative maintenance, preparation, and luck. I've had 3 great years with this boat and I expect many, many more. It's not perfect, but it's been dead reliable and all the important stuff works as it should. It needs some cosmetic attention here and there. This pic is actually from last weekend, when we hung out at this spot all afternoon. It was beautiful, and the weather was absolutely perfect. And the boat started right up after playing music for many hours (thank you dual batteries).

There are two types of maintenance one can do on a boat:

    - Preventive

    - Disaster Recovery

    Pick one.

Nah, I knocked on that wooden boat you see in the picture. Whose owner, by the way, wants to change its name - now THAT I hear is bad luck for sure.

2 boats over an 11 year span and no major problems....only nuisances. 7 years out of my 06 210 6.0L and now working on 4 years in my 13 230 6.0L. I bought both used at the 2 the year mark. Only water time lost was self inflicted. Looking to upgrade to 2 year old G one day

In the 11 years I had my old Supra, it went from ~ 600 hours to ~1,600 hours and only once did it fail to get me home, when the damper plate broke. In that particular instance, I waved at the first boat that went by (it was about 5pm on a nice summer day), and he towed me to the ramp. It turned out he was the same guy I had towed in from the far end of the lake in the pouring rain about 3 weeks earlier.

                  Anyway....
