I have a 2013 G23 and don't like the throttle operation. It sticks and struggles to move effortlessly. I've gotten used to it, but guest drivers really struggle to determine if in gear or neutral. My friend has a 2018 G23 and his moves much more freely and is more obvious when it clicks back into neutral. Are there any replacement throttle systems available?

Anytime I hear about people not being able to determine whether the boat is in gear or in neutral, I always like to verify that they are using the throttle handle correctly. When switching from forward or reverse to neutral, you shouldn't be squeezing the ring. Just move the handle until it locks into neutral. Is that what you and your other drivers are doing?
If the throttle is sticky and not moving properly, I would say there is definitely something that needs to be looked at. It may be that after six years, the mechanism has gotten gummed up and needs to be cleaned and lubricated.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. Hi Jeff. Thanks for your comment. I understand and agree with your point that squeezing the ring should only be practiced when switching out of neutral. That is the way I operate the throttle. However, other experienced owners with newer SAN's that have driven my boat agree that my throttle is not operating as it should. I plan to reach out to Race City Marine and seek their assistance. Just wanted to see if other owners are having the same issues.

I am in the exact same boat as you. Well not exactly as it is a 2013 210. I hate my throttle. My friends 2017 G23 is so smooth. I've seen this discussed before but never heard of anyone that changed it out or if this was an option. I would be very interested to do it. As you have, I am able to manage as I have gotten used to it. However it is tough for other drivers. Mine is very stiff and hard to tell when it is in neutral. Jeff, I don't use the ring incorrectly, you sometimes even have to jiggle the throttle to find neutral. I have heard this discussed in the past on this site and I believe Jeff said that they went to a new style control in 2014. I don't think it is an issue with it being gummed up either as it has always been this way. Hoping to hear if anyone has a solution for this.

We have a 2014 G21 and had to have the throttle replaced twice the first summer we had the boat . Third one finally worked correctly. Sound like the same problems you are having. It was almost impossible to operate and was very dangerous. I think the throttle design was changed in 2015.

I had the same issue with my 2013 G23, fine for me because I was used to it, but guest drivers often thought they were in neutral when in fact they were in reverse.
I just upgraded to a 2019 and it was the very first thing I noticed when I put it in gear...giant improvement! The sales guy said they might have a fix for the old one now.

Yea. My neighbor has a 2013 G23 and the thottle/shifter is very different. I have to do "the wiggle" to know for sure I'm in neutral. Basically, I let go of the ring and wiggle the the lever forwards and backwards a bit to make SURE I'm in neutral. It's just something you have to get used to on that year-model boat.

i have a 2014 and the first engagement is difficult. beyond that it is smooth. i believe mine is the shift cable. i was going to have the dealer inspect it and possibly replace prior to next season. for 2015, it was redesigned
