Hi guys,
As the title implies, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2006 SAN 210. I'm purchasing from a second owner. It didn't say that it was a TE, but the first owner installed Perfect Pass and ballast. From what I understand, PP+ballast are what makes the TE's. It looks like they changed out the entire dash and upholstery as well.
He wants $20k with a trailer, which seems almost too reasonable, so I'm a little skeptical. He sounds totally legit though, and is probably on this forum. The only downsides I've found is that the spedo doesn't work, and it's been in saltwater back when the first owner had it in California.
I'm in Florida, and the boat is in Virginia. I'm planning to have a mechanic look at the boat to make sure everything is working as it should. I've tried contacting SAMS/NAMS surveyors, but only one guy surveys around SML, and he wants $540 without a sea trial. This sounded crazy expensive to me, as I was getting survey quotes for boats elsewhere for ~$400 with sea trials included.
Is there anyone around Smith Mountain Lake who would be willing to check out this SAN 210? Or any references for mechanics around SML who could look at it?
Thanks!
James
