SV211 Vent Covers for surfing

I've been looking at boat options. I would do a mix of things (surf, wakeboard, wakeskate, and kids might tube). In the past, the SV211 looked like a good option. I have read that you need to cover the vents while surfing. I don't like the idea of a permanent cover or tape. Are there any other options? Looking for something I could slide on and off. Thanks.

I surf my 211 all the time and don’t have any problems with water getting into the vent covers.

What setup do you use (ballast, wakeshaper, etc.)?

350lb bag in each rear locker, full factory ballast, Nauticurl, and sometimes an 800lb bag up front.

Stock ballast and a suck gate works fine for me. Just gotta be a bit careful with placement of it so I don’t splash into the vents but even then it’s minimal.

I’m curious what kind of wave you get with only stock ballast.
I run 750’s in each rear compartment, stock belly and a 400 bag in the bow. I run a homemade suck gate as well and get a great wave. I do get some splash and water in the vents. Usually not enough to make the bulge run. Depends on placement of the gate and how rough the lake is. I’d love to see any examples of a vent cover. I tried to make one a few years ago with magnets and a piece of metal but it came off in the lake.

I get as good of a wave as most other boats I have ridden. That includes a 2019 230 with pro ballast.

I got water in the bilge of my Sport when I would (try to) surf it. I would leave the auto bilge on. I read that it was probably coming in on the rub rails for that boat.

I had problems with water getting in the vents when I had to weight one side heavily, when I went to the suckgate I no longer had to worry.
To stop the water I cut a thin piece of plastic following the outline of the vent cover, then I used automotive push pin fasteners through the plastic into the holes in the vent cover. It cost a couple of dollars to make one for each side, I just popped them on and off when I needed them.
