    ‘19 vs ‘20 GS22 hull changes?

Anyone aware of any hull changes between the 2019 and 2020 GS22? The reason I ask is I recently surfed behind a 2019 GS22 and noticed the lip that has been talked about about 2/3 up the wave. I understand the recent (forget what year) hull changes with the GS24 may have gotten rid of the lip?
Dealer says no changes but the side profile of the NSS would say differently?

I can’t figure out how to post pics but there is a visual difference between the side profile of the NSS plates.

Would that even make a difference in the surf wake?

Has as anyone surfed behind a 2019 and 2020 GS22 and been able to compare the wakes? Or even just s 2020 G22 and can comment on the surf wake and the presence/absence of the lip?

it is really tough to what exactly your are trying to point out. they look the same to me.
the GS does have a different hull design on each side of the stern. they are not symmetrical like the G boats

That is odd. Just curious why the hull is a different design on each side of the stern .

after looking at brighter pics of other 2020 and 2019 boats, there is indeed differences in the hulls. I wonder what the changes do??

Hull was changed to have a better surf wave. Don't know exactly what changed but something definitely did.

Note how the nss plate is flatter on the side, and does not have the extra bump in it.

Can a GS 22 owner explain the "WHY" for the hull not being symmetrical on both side of the stern? Seems to be a very odd hull design.

I’m not an owner of a gs22 but I can explain that Nautique did this on gs series to try and make the wave more symmetrical on both sides, apparently the design works with the prop rotation to help keep both sides of the wave more symmetrical and even.

There is a cool documentary on youtube about the Gen 4 X-Star R&D and design process. The pro's test the proto boat on the lake, give feedback on the wake. The engineers immediately add fiberglass blocking to the hull to adjust the wake and send it back out for another test. To clean up port or starboard side wake not everything changed on the hull is done symmetrically.
I'd guess there is a similar story for the GS boats.

This is my understanding as well.

There was a hull change on the 2020 GS22. Similar changes that were made on the 2019 GS24. The stern/transom area has been widened with some changes to NSS plates to help with the surfing aspect of the boat.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't even notice the asymmetry of the transom until it was pointed out. Geek, I'm glad you were able to specify the differences and it isn't just my eyes playing tricks on me. Curious as to who was your source of information as my dealer says there is no '19/'20 hull difference?

Absolutely jlee. Nautique is my source. Your dealer needs to chat with their district rep as you were given incorrect information. Looks like you are in Washington; the rep for that area is a great guy and I am sure he would be happy to shoot your dealer a quick message to clear things up for customers. The changes are not a secret as there are 2020 GS series boats on dealer floors as we speak.

Thanks, NG! A 2020 GS22 just showed up at my local dealer. May have to go check it out.
