Looking at a 2003 super air

Hi I am looking into buying a 03 super air nautique and need some insite if this is a fair price. There is also a 2000 for sale by me for 26000. I saw on the forums alot of people don't like the single hatch for that year so I was leaning more towards the 03. Thank you for your help

I have an 05 which is more or less the same boat as the 03. I would say 100% go for the 03 over the 00.


Also, if you are going to surf with it, we use the nauticurl shaper and itÂ’s great. If itÂ’s just two people in the boat we fill the front and rear ballasts (400s in the rear lockers that replaced the hard tanks) and put down a fat sac in the open space between the seats that I think is 600 or 750lbs and the surf wake is great.

Then of course itÂ’s hard to beat the wake boarding wake with just the stock ballast. One of the best wakes in my opinion.

Also, this time of year you should be able to get the seller to shave 2-3 grand off the price.

Looks to be a good boat for the money. Stereo install is sub-par at best and needs attention... sun pad vinyl has the typical wear that all these models show with age, but the rest of the interior looks to be in great shape. Looks like the rub rail has been pulled down some on the port side so make sure to inspect for spider cracks there. I believe you could shave a few thousand off the cost as well if you haggle well.

Of course I want it to bring a premium to help keep my boat's cost up... but I'm not looking to ever sell so doesn't really matter!

I agree with the comments above, I'll just add this - is the ballast the original system? Or has it been upgraded / changed over to 2-way ballast pumps, removing the old fill/empty pumps and finicky valve system.

Mine still has the original system, and it's quirky, though functional. Some day I'm looking at spending ~$1,000 in parts and a full day of my time replacing it. So if that's been done, GREAT! If it was done well, that is. If not, that's a factor. There's nothing "wrong" with the original system, but it's a hassle compared to doing it with proper ballast pumps.

For comparison, I paid 28,500 last fall for my 03. 580 hours, original everything including ballast tanks and pumps but an upgraded sound system including with new amps and speakers. Spend some time on this site and you will have a nice wave for surfing. After our first summer, no regrets!
That looks like a fair price if the boat is in good condition.

The 2000 has been on craigslist for over a year. It also has a Monster tower which i would suggest against.

I had a buddy looking for a 210 and he inquired about the 2003 before he found a 2011. The 2003 has always been service by Pacific Nautiques and it pretty clean. It seems like a pretty good deal for what it is.

Another comparison, that's exactly what I paid for my '03 back in 2017, 550 hours, all original equipment including the stereo, although it was a full wetsounds system... not sure if that's common or not to be honest. In any case I thought I'd share. Values seem pretty stable on these.
