This ^. I’ll need to test at 25 MPH, back to dock.

I saw a G23 Paragon on my lake for the first time today. Looked like red metal flake sides with an admiral blue hull on Table Rock Lake, near the dam. Beautiful boat! I gave them a wave and a thumbs up from my masters blue 230. Does the Paragon belong to anyone on here?

Back to dock 25 MPH in the 2021 Paragon is 3700 RPM.

Surfing 11.3 was about 2750 RPM.

That's wild, 2020 w/XR7 is exactly the same for back to dock but surfs at 3500.

I want to correct this post.

Surfing is 2750 RPM, but Back to Dock 25MPH is 3350 RPM not 3700 RPM.

Top speed was about 36-37 MPH but it felt like that ZZ8 was making a dent in the strategic oil reserve at that speed!

Ah, thank you! That makes a lot more sense and was more what I thought the change might be.

                  So so sad though....my 409 G21...39 mph.....450 G23....39 mph.....AND a 600 horsepower ZZ8 only pushing the boat to 37....just pains me. That Paragon should do at somewhere around 42-45. I know...I know..it's a tow boat...blah blah....but gosh darn....600 HP !!!! 37 miles an hour...LOL LOL

Prop is the limiting factor. In the drag race video linked earlier in this thread, N3 swapped out the new stock prop (18x13.5) to the old stock prop (17x17) and top speed was 43.5mph (as well as other benefits). For those at low altitude and/or who do not run large crews or extra weight it would be an awesome alternative.

Thanks Steele...now that you mention it...I did watch that drag race video. Yeah...that could be a consideration. I don't need to be Eddie Hill......but would like a little more speed out of the G's....

I feel like I cared about speed on my first boat only because my friends were giving me **** about how slow it was. Now with the P23 I never feel like going over 30 anyway.

While the 17 x 17 on the ZZ8 is much faster, I would expect the 17 x 17 to be too much torsional load on the 1.5:1 transmission when surfing or wakeboarding. The Pargon is not built for speed. Unless it were a glassy windless day I would not venture much over 35 mph. That bimini grabs too much wind to want to go very fast.

This was the reason they went to the smaller ratio transmission. The new motor was blowing apart the 2:1, way too much torque.

I wonder how it would be with the 3345 (18x17.5)? Don't know enough about props but would think the large diameter would help with load a bit? I don't care about the speed, but the lower RPMs/fuel consumption could be cool!
