    Bimini mounts

We have a 99 SNOB, and I ordered a bimini, but I have a question before mounting the deck mounts... It seems when I lay the bimini (closed) toward the bow, the side-curved windshield gets in the way of the vertical bimini upright, almost as if the windshield is too wide for the bimini mounts, since the windshield comes to the widest part of the top deck. Is anyone else's bimini upright (the part that goes to the deck-mount) anything but straight or curve toward the deck? Is everyone's deck mount at the widest part of the deck?

Any help or pictures of anyone else's bimini mount locations would be wonderful.

Thanks! Oh, and the other pic is of our new daughter Elle, born a week ago thursday. She is the newest Planet Nautique member, and future hall-of fame H2O skier!

    RE: Bimini mounts

    Todda, congrats on your daughter!

I can't offer much insight on the folding question, as I havent started playing with re-mounting mine. All biminis are going to be a little different, due to varying heights, widths, etc. I think that where you have roughly decided to mount the bimini looks good- you want it nice and wide to avoid hitting the mount with your throttle elbow. Just a few inches back from the windshield should look really good too. The proportions on the attaced pic look good, but if the bimini were mounted 6" forward it would look even better.

On the mounts have you considered going with the flush mounts? The look pretty nice even with the bimini off.

      RE: Bimini mounts

      Todd -

      Congrats on your daughter!

My bimi actually mounts to the side of the windshield. While I like how tall it is (it's over 6 ft tall), I have the same problem as I cannot flip it over the windshield so it can rest on the bow out of the way.

I would have to agree with TR's post above...my buddy has on '02 MC with flush mounts for his cover - it looks real sharp and seems to work well.

        Another congrats Todd,

Our future pro wakeboarder will be here in November. Hopefully Dallas Friday will be retired by the time our little girl can compete!

Thanks Everyone! Yeah, I agree, the mounts that the bimini came with are pretty obtrusive! Those flush mounts do look sharp TR, and thank you for the pics. Where is everyone getting the flush mounts, straight from CC factory?

Good luck Rbalan in November with your little girl. They are great, but take my advice, invest in Huggies stock and Duracell, as she will need a lot of diapers, and everything for kids seems to involve some sort of battery...

            RE: Bimini mounts

I mounted my bimini outside of the windshield. Of course that was on a '90 and it appears that there is not sufficient room since they changed the windshield design. Isn't there a side mount available?

              RE: Bimini mounts

I have an '01 196 with the bimini mounted on the bottom corner of the windshield using the quick release flush mounts mentioned above. Mounting it in this position allows me to store the bimini on the deck just forward of the winshield. I got the flush mounts from Overton's for around $ 25 each - they are sold individually.

I also have a 99 SNOB. Mounted mine to the rear base of the windshield with the quick release mounts and it will fold down over the windshield. Also put the front clips on the intake on the front and the rub rail on the back. Do not like to drill into the 'glass if I don't have to.

Let me know if you want pictures, but mine seems to work pretty well.

Here is a picture of my 95, you can see the little chrome bimini side mount near the back corner of the windshield.

Be careful drilling in to the windshield frame........if you hit glass, it is all over with.

SkiDIM sells them as well as Overtons. Good luck!
